Snowpiercer 5.5/10
Original, weird, campy, interesting-ish, disjointed, abrupt, clever, kinda dumb.
I walked away confused. Not bummed I watched it. Probably will never watch it again.
you will not be disappointed. Intelligent apes and Gary Oldham? Can't go wrong.Anyone seeing the new Planet of The Apes? Thinking about going to see it this weekend?

Visually, it was really stunning. But there were a whole lot of plot devices that I found completely implausible.
Based on a couple of those devices, I personally concluded that humans should exterminate apes as rapidly as possible. Which I'm pretty sure was not what the writers wanted us to think. Spoilers:
So Koba shoots Caesar, and nobody else saw it? It wasn't even a long range shot -- maybe 10 meters, tops. And when they saw Caesar was shot, wouldn't the very first ape reaction be to grab the few humans that were present right there? Instead, they magically manage to slip away despite standing in the middle of a bunch of apes when Caesar is shot. And that "apes grab the strongest branch" point Caesar made -- that apes would follow the physically strongest ape no matter what. Doesn't matter if that ape had shot Caesar and lied about it. Doesn't matter if that ape was stupid, wantonly cruel, whatever. If he's strongest (and how about all those gorillas that would have been stronger than any chimp), they'll follow. There's a recipe for a genocide waiting to happen.....
Also, how did apes that were fast enough to follow all those automobiles back to the city without ever losing sight of them and without being spotted manage to get outrun by a bunch of humans running to get away when Caesar was shot? Then there was the self-driving armored car, etc. etc. etc.
Stuff just bugged me. It was just lazy writing as far as I was concerned.
All the apes were looking up and paying attention to their leader, it looked to be as if Koba did it so quickly no ape actually saw it or registered because of their fear of him. I think Koba was followed because of said fear, its unheard of to kill another ape, he did it right in front of them plus I think they were already jumpy with humans there that it was the easy thing to immediately place blame on them. It's not just the strongest ape they follow, if that was the case they would follow one of the gorillas but Caesar is the smartest.
How about the magic radio? Or this need for a hydroelectric power plant to run some fucking lights in a building? You have an entire city to burn for fuel.... Or the same two recycled soldiers that get duped over and over again and are of course stupid, drunk, and lazy.
Movie was ass.
That bad? Damn. Surprised it has an 8.3 on imdb.
