Marvel wants to go younger with Peter.

I'm pretty excited for the Reynolds Deadpool movie

Marvel wants to go younger with Peter.

LOL!!

How much younger can he get? Wtf, is this baby Spider-Man, or what? Jesus Christ, it's so fucking annoying how much they can fuck up a good character.

The guy has been married and had a kid already.

We saw him in high-school for so many movies already. College, again we've seen it in the recent movies already. We never really see him as a grown adult man handling his own life like he is in the comics of the last 40 years (more than my whole life) going back to the 1970s.

Issues from that era have Parker living in rundown apartments unable to pay the rent and struggling with the responsibility of being an unpaid superhero, being tired all the time, and not having any time for a normal life.

Especially if we're talking about using him in shit like Avengers or Secret Wars (which will likely be the movie he's going to be in, with Thanos, etc). He shouldn't be a kid.. He'd be out of place with the rest of the actors.

Only in an alternate reality. Mayday Parker is from Earth-982, an alternate reality to the mainline 616 universe. Peter has never had any children in the regular comics that are considered cannon. Though, at one point, it was hinted that a child was in his and MJ's future. But, the deal with Mephisto wiped that, their marriage, and knowledge of any of it out. Ain't comics grand?

I quite honestly disregard any Marvel comics at this point (2007+) as being nonsensical. This feeling started with the Clone Saga and really culminated with the end of the Civil War and how they retconned basically everything out of existence.

But going back to what is or isn't, or really what should or shouldn't be, cannon; I own the 1987 Wedding Comic, Annual 27. It wasn't until 20 years later (2007) that Marvel retconned the Parker wedding story out of existence. So from the time I was in kindergarten until I had my second kid, Parker had married Mary Jane. Even in the Animated Series, Parker marries Mary Jane and that was when I was still a kid.

Regarding the kid, this was established, AFAIK, in 1995 in Spectacular or Amazing Spider-Man, but I know for sure it was canonical and legit before AS#400.

I remember in in the late 90s reading the story of what looked like a stillbirth... That shit was always insane.. Like, it's what separated Marvel from DC.. Spider-Man's life was so harsh, and that's what I mean by he doesn't really come into his own until he moves past his adolescent and teenage escapades.

The shit he went through as an adult was much more real, much darker, and really demonstrates the real ethical dilemmas he was repeatedly in.

But again, by 2007, when they retconned everything I had kids of my own, and just couldn't tolerate how bad comics were getting... Everything was changed for a new generation, so I kept hold of what I grew up with. To this day though, I still think the original version of Spider-Man (vol 1) was superior to any other rendition that came after.

The movie they've all but confirmed he'll be in before the new standalone Spidey movie is going to be the next Captain America movie, as he plays a major part in that storyline.

Gouri, I forgot about the still birth. I also never liked them retconning the marriage out of existence. Doing so deprived us of actually reading and experiencing Peter going through what should have been the next stage of his life. Basically, they set it right back to Peter having to do the bachelor dating thing. Never allowing him to go forward with his life.

Anyways, things are about to get even worse in the next year or so. They have some big event about to start where they are merging all of their realities. Things are going to be topsy-turvy for a while. Basically a reboot of sorts. To me, it looks like an attempt to adjust things to their benefit from an intellectual properties stand point since they don't have control of all of the Marvel characters for movie/tv purposes.

That shit was crazy!

Right. His relationship with MJ was a very realistic one in the sense that they had anything but an ideal marriage.

It's like, damn, this guy is down and out, marriage is on the rocks, wife is potentially moving on, fuuuck.. And he's got some dudes trying to kill him!

That's a whole lot different than 'my girlfriend is going away to school.. oh noos'

That all sounds horrible... Jesus.

Someone please watch "Age of Ice" on Netflix. It is without a doubt - the worst movie of all time. Worst plot, worst actors, worst special effects, most flaws, worst editing of all time. It's really impossible to explain. My bro-in-law told me it was awesome, so I had an idea of what I was in for. I saw it had 1.8/10 stars on imdb so I had the kids gather around and just watched all 82 minutes. They were in tears they were laughing so hard at its flaws and awfulness. It makes Sharknado look Oscar worthy.

I'm still wondering if there's some inside joke or something going on. I like watching stupid SyFy network flics with my kids...they're B movies. There is no category for this thing. I will give it its own category - the worst movie of all time. If you want to play a joke on someone...or really dislike them...tell them it's a must watch.

Finally watched Fury. Actually very good, dark for a WWII movie, which you don't see alot. Surprisingly too, I didn't want to murder shia labeouf that whole time either.

Ice Spiders would fit into the same category. I will watch this.

Garfield was a great Spider-Man.

In fact to address @blommen 's and @Andrew 's / @Jack Brickman 's points, I think Garfield was a better Spider-Man than Bale was at being Batman. In fact, he was as close to perfect at being Peter Parker / Spider-Man that I think any actor could reasonably be.

Makes no sense to replace him, at all, unless they feel he's too young to play an adult Parker (Parker who was a bit older, engaged/married, etc). If that's the direction they want to go, I'm fine with it.

But regarding Batman, I never liked Bale's rendition of Batman. I thought it was forced. His voice was simply, annoying; almost laughable. He did a good job as Wayne, but as Batman?? Nah... Those movies were good not because of Bale as Batman, but because of Nolan being this generations Kubrick. And Dark Knight was what it was because of the supporting cast, not necessarily because of Bale.

I also don't think Begins or TDKR were all that great. I prefer Amazing Spider-Man 1 to Begins. AS2 was an abomination.

Lastly, I'll say that I prefer DC's approach to the Batman / Superman franchises than I do of Marvel's with Ironman / Avengers. Nolan and Snyder's movies, I think, are just better all around action films than anything Marvel has produced so far, and I'm a huge Marvel fan.

Those Avengers movies, are frankly boring CGI fests. Same goes for Ironman. Just, boring... lots of CGI. Age of Ultron looks to be the same thing. Too much imaginary CGI - like I'm watching Toy Story or something.

I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with the quality of the performance but more the weight of the performance, so to speak. sure, Bale's batman wasn't earthshattering and for from his best work, although I do think that his Bruce Wayne was stellar, but he is regarded as the one true batman right now because of the massive succes of the Dark Knight movies. That's not to say that someone couldn't do a better job down the line. hell, I've met quite a few people who consider Mads Mikkelsen Hannibal Lecter better than Hopkins' portrayal and I'm partial saying they're right, it just takes some massive massive balls to do it.

Spiderman has as a franchise been so all over the place quality-wise that the audiences haven't settled into one specific actor playing his role, so therefore it would be easier to cast someone else as him, hence why I said you really couldn't compare the two movies.

I would think keeping garfield would make sense, cut out the need for origin etc.. although whedon might not like being tied in to the amazing origin, he clearly has a vision for the whole thing. Personally i love the MCU movies especially the way they try to balance the humor and action, but the im a huge whedon fan and that his shtick

I mean, does Spider-Man even need an origin in a movie any more? We all know what happened. He was a nerd who got bit by a radioactive spider on a field trip and gained spider-themed super powers and then learns that with great power comes great responsibility when a criminal he lets get away conveniently ends up killing his uncle.

It's the same with Batman and his parents getting shot. We don't need to see it for the twentieth time. We know his origin. Get on with it.
