Avengers: Age of Ultron --- 6/10

Movie was okay.. It gets a 6 out of 10 because it was quite humorous. But outside of comedy, the movie lacked any real substance.

The romance between Natasha and Bruce was whack; and turning down multiple opportunities to fuck Scarlett Johansson really stretches one's suspension of disbelief. Just fuck her already! Do it for all of us.. Do it for me!

Anyway...

Hulk getting knocked out by the Hulkbuster was just... look, I know it happened in the comics (the whole scene is taken from an issue of Iron Man).. But this wasn't a one-shot hit, and Hulk had already been raging... I know they showed him calm down a bit, but.... It was kinda like huh? Even people around me were like, "bullshit."

Ultron was nothing more than the fill-in for the midnight monster. His voice acting by James Spader was fantastic though, but the dialogue and direction of the character was pretty weak. He's going to destroy the world! M'kay cool...

As I thought, Ultron being created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner made little to no sense. It was done haphazardly, simply to write Henry Pym out of the movie. And the Oedipus complex that really drives Ultron is really left unexplained. Ultron's insanity is completely left, unexplained. He's supposed to be just a bad version of Stark; but other than his sense of humor, he's nothing like Stark.

Captain America, Iron Man, War-Machine, Hawkeye, Fury, and Thor were all portrayed well... Cap't was great, but you can tell the writers don't really understand the character as it seems they only put him in charge of the Avengers, just because he's supposed to be.

You get glimpses of his leadership abilities and righteousness, but you don't feel compelled by the direction of his character. If you don't already respect Captain America before walking in the movie, you'd probably walk out not really getting why he's supposed to be this great leader all that much.

Honestly, this movie could have been great, but instead was just a forgettable action movie that really spent more time on completely completely meaningless character development (Hawkeye, Bruce, Natasha) and a great deal of time on comedy (which was genuinely laugh out loud funny).

It's a good time at the theater, but it's not a memorable film. Trust me it could've been a million times worse, just look at AM2. But I hope they get another director for the next film. I don't want the movies to get 'darker' per se, or even more serious, I just hope the direction and writing could improve - these aspects of the film were very weak.

6/10.
I'd go a little higher, probably 7/10 because I liked the pace.

But too many subplots made it a bit jumbled and the titular character didn't seem all that important.

Also, there is a mid credit, and no end credit scene. And the mid credit scene is pretty boring.

clearly im a bit more forgiving than you guys, it has a difficult job to do as its essentially the sequel to about 5 movies and has to get all the characters in the right place for the next 5 or so. It helped not seeing it 3d the second time as i got to appreciate the action a bit better (i can never follow 3d action scenes for some reason). My favourite part is probably andy serkis i thought his character was really well done

What happened at the end of the credits?

What happened at the end of the credits?

Thanos happens. He said: "FUCK IT! WE'LL DO IT LIVE!" before grabbing a new shiny, gemless gauntlet.

Lol!

Yeah, I saw the Thanos bit, but that wasn't after the credits, it was mid-credits.

Did something else happen after the final credit roll?

There is no post-credit scene for Avengers Age of Ultron. Repeat, there is none. No one should stay through the credits.

I agree. Having no knowledge of any of these characters outside of the movies, I don't understand what the appeal of Captain America really is. He's just kind of ho-hum to me, as a casual comic book movie viewer.

Yep, and this is a fault of the writers and really Whedon, and I think this is mostly because they don't either understand with or identify with Captain America.

Captain America is supposed to be the everyman, or worse, but a guy who became America's super-soldier against the Nazis. You love him because he's supposed to have ideal morals, great leadership, he's merciful, and simply a great human being. But his military leadership and ability as a tactician and as Marvel's greatest hand-to-hand fighter make him one of the toughest guys in the Marvel universe.

I think the only time the hand to hand has been worthy of his caliber is on the ship at the start of winter soldier. In the avengers he just throws the shield. People would be forgiven for thinking black widow was the best fighter in close quarters

Watched I Am Legend again yesterday.

Good fuck, is that depressing. Does a tremendous job with atmosphere, but there is not a happy moment in that movie.

I watched Schindler's List afterwards to cheer myself up.

Both the Vincent Price original and the Heston remake Omega Man are better films.. Check them out.

Speaking of oldies but goodies, I just watched The Thing... The 1951 version, The Thing From Another World!

Great film!

Vincent Price is one of my favorite people of all time. Fucking amazing guy. Will check it out.

The biggest thing I didn't like about I Am Legend is that the vampires didn't look like they were human at any point and many looked the same. Way too CGI-ish. It distracted from the atmosphere of the movie, which was really the best part.

The second biggest thing was that
he didn't just throw the goddamn grenade past the glass or leave it in there for the vampires to run into. Why did he have to bust through with it in his hand?

Fast and Furious is my shameful love.

Fast 7 is awesome.

I just bought the book, actually.

I am in a rut of watching depressing shit intermingled with horror, sci-fi and informational stuff.

I very rarely have an interest in comedies anymore.

Wtf is wrong with me?
