Red Dead Redemption

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
haha, you heard wrong. That was a rumor started by some 360 site that ran wild like the Delonte Rumor.

IGN gave both systems the same score and Rockstar said the games are IDENTICAL.

It was not a 360 site that did it, it was arstechnica.com.

The website received a copy of both the PS3 and the 360 verison of the game

Red Dead Redemption 360 vs. PS3: our thoughts
By Ben Kuchera | Last updated about 17 hours ago

Our review copies of Red Dead Redemption have arrived, which means it's time to get to work on some coverage. Rockstar sent both a PS3 and a 360 version of the game, and many people are wondering which version to get, so we thought we'd do a quick comparison.

This is non-scientific, but after playing an hour of both games, and switching back and forth between the two systems on our display, it's clear that the 360 version has quite the graphical advantage. It's sharper, with much less aliasing. The faces of the characters were clearer in the opening section. Gameplay sections likewise looked better, with smoother graphics across the board. The PlayStation 3 version looked impressive, but there was a noticeable jump in quality while playing on the 360.

Keep in mind that the game doesn't look bad on the PS3—not by any stretch—but based on our time with the game and direct comparisons, the 360 version looks better. If you purchase the PS3 version of the game you're not going to be let down, but if you have the choice, pick up a copy for the 360.

Here's another reason to buy the game for the Xbox 360: if you dislike playing with strangers, there are 16 Ars Technica members in the game's thread playing online with the 360 version, compared to three on the PS3. If you're going to be playing, sign up!

Why did we decide to write this post for this particular game? It's rare we get sent both copies of a game, and there has been some discussion about which one to get. Let us know if this is something you're interested in seeing in the future, and we'll try to provide more of it when we can.

^Never heard of that site..

Huh.

Regardless, IGN and Rock* said neither system has an advantage in any gameplay department, so I'll go with their word.

Im looking to get this game. I have a PS3. I watched my friend play this a bit last night on the 360 and I helped him a little:chuckles:

I had a dude wave me down, saying he needed a ride, than he says "Better yet, I'l take yours" and runs past me and hops on my horse. Needless to say he got popped in the back.

The online is pretty fun. I dont think you start a permanent posse. Its more of just "Hey lets join up on a team" sort of thing. You cant name your posse. BUT its really beneficial to form one because you can spawn on the leader and the leader can set waypoints for everyone.

The team multiplayer games are really fun. There is standard CTF, and Single flag CTF, but its bags of gold. And of course death match. There is also free for all but I have not played that part.

Its also really awesome because every round starts off with a Mexican Standoff

Its really awesome when you have 2 full teams. Then the players left standing have some valuable time to get some weapons and get superior position

Ahh ok, thanks! So then if you want to create a one time posse with other RCF members do you search for their gamer tags to have them join? Sorry I'm not much of an online gamer :)

You can invite your friends to join you in a Public game or a Private game. Then I assume the people you invite join your posse automatically. Or you can press the Back button/select and you can see all the players names and you can ask to join another posse or invite people to yours.

I should be picking this game up shortly, PS3 Gamertag: stew2012
