Looks like Wade is following the King's lead which makes me feel a little better. I'll post the link as soon as it is available.

This also means that there are going to be teams making some cap room in 4 years for a frenzy of top FAs.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2516735

Also, 'Melo expected to take the 5 year with the 4th year as an opt out like LeBron was believed to be signing originally. Bosh no doubt will take all 5 years since he has very little endorsment money coming his way.

even if teams want to sign melo, lebron, or wade the amount of room they will need will have to be HUGE. I mean to sign any of these players will require 16-18 million in cap room, and thats jsut rediculous. I mean I believe the bulls are the only team this year that could ahve signed a player to taht much and it would have taken up ALL of their cap room, and in teh last 2 years only 2/3 teams I think could have signed one of these guys. While all of them becoming free agents the same year either there is giong to be some serious talent avalible b/c of everyone making contracts to end then or no one goes anywhere (which is more likely). Now granted teh cap will also go up, but in all reality I just dont see any of these players changing teams by way of signing a contract with a different team. The only way they move is if they are traded.

The Bulls luckily will not have that kind of cash come time to sign LeBron in 2010. They have to resign Gordon, Hinrich, Deng, Nocioni and think about contracts for Tyrus and Thabo as well...there's no way in hell they have enough cash..

Some are saying the Nets will but whatever..we can only hope :/

We are watching the aftermath of what took place last FA period... plenty of up-and-coming teams had more cash than they expected because of the raised cap, so they overspent and gave away some high-end long-term contracts. Allen, Redd and Hughes --and even though I love him: big Z-- I'm looking in your direction.

Now agents are piecing together the strategy of ownership: they will slowly expand the cap while restricting other freedoms for free agents.

Does this negatively effect the Cavs? Not as bad as you think. The Cavs will still hold Bird Rule rights, and we can still offer around 2-3% added increments every year to entice LBJ. Additionally, his 7 year Nike contract runs out by then, which means all the hoopla about the bonuses that he would recieve if switching to a larger market become null and void.

If we have a good team for the next four years, he remains a Cav. No pressure, Danny.

Ric Bucher ?

Until it comes out of Stephen A's mouth, I just can't take it as fact..

Smart moves by James and Wade. There will be more money to make in 3 years.

Then in 2010 Wade will opt out and sign with the Cavs after Shaq has retired and Miami's roster has gotten old.
