When OJ Simpson broke Jim Brown's single season record with 2,000 yards, Jim was happy for him, but was surprised it took so long. Why? When they narrowed the hash marks in the middle of the field, Jim felt they should have immediately had 2,000 yard seasons.
Here's another great Jim Brown story:
One year the trainer noticed Jim was limping and asked what was wrong. Jim said his big toe hurt. The trainer asked if he'd have it x-rayed. Jim said, No, because it didn't matter. He was going to play no matter what.
After the season he did have it x-rayed and it was broken. That was the only year he didn't rush for 1000 yards. It was 900+. I don't recall if it was one of his 12 game or 14 game season.
