Teague and Schroder were getting anything they wanted, and there's not much Delly, Kyrie, or JR can do to stay with those guys. Probably Shump is the guy who has the best shot, but Blatt chose to stick him on Korver. I'm not going to argue with the results. It did seem that if we left a big inside we slowed those guys down or forced kick outs, and I'd rather live with Milsap, Horford and Antic taking late close out jumpers than Teague and Schroder hitting lay ups. They do hurt defensively and with rebounding when they're on the court together so I don't know how much the Hawks can go to that lineup.
Carroll's knee is potentially huge, judging by his reaction I think it's bad though it doesn't appear like there was a whole lot of contact. I'm guessing a hyperextended knee and out for a game or 2 the. Able to come back in some limited form is the best scenario for him. Worst case is an ACL or similar tear.
Of course, I thought lebrons ankle was bad by how it looked too but turns out he was fine. I think they did the correct thing by having him attack milsap over and over, just a few seconds earlier to open up other options off the pass would have been perfect. If Carroll is out for a prolonged period I'd expect more of the same, so it will be interesting to see how they go at milsap.
Tristan and Mozgov were huge again, they won so many possessions, and a few that don't show up in the box score beyond a team rebound or foul on a Hawk.
Kyrie showed he can shoot, he had one layup, but he's just not quite right yet, and his driving game requires him to be basically full speed. He was getting torched out there so if he wasn't bringing anything offensively, I think Blatt was right to go with Delly, whose shot has now come back down to earth.
Course that didn't matter because JR went on one of his streaks at just the right time. Let's face it, most of those were terrible shots, fadeaway off balance threes with a guy right on him. He actually missed his most open shot. He almost shoots better when defended.
The way we played, with Kyrie down some and Carroll looking iffy, we have a good shot at taking both of the away games and really putting some pressure on.
The one injury that scares me a bit is Shump, looked like he re aggravated that groin
