What an idiot and a waste of talent. He could have made soo much money and now he is out of the NBA. I don't see any other team signing him, he could have proved himself with the tanking Sixers.

Sixers waived Royce White tonight.

Oh, SNAP!

The worst team in the league has just cut you and basically labeled you a lost cause. What now?

The only team I can see taking a shot at him now, believe me I think it's a reach, would be the Spurs..

Hear me out, Im not saying I think this would, or should happen. Im just saying I think the only person who might be able to "get through" to this kid would be POP. Being surrounded by a strong team element (Not the 76ers') could only help.

Anyway, dude is prolly done. My prediction; ends up in Europe or China somewhere, doubt this is the last we hear of him as his ego will not allow that.

Watched a couple interviews.

He strikes me as an insecure and thus very pretentious guy, who also happens to be an intelligent person. He's not stupid, but his mind clearly gets in the way of itself. In reality, if the guy used his mind a little less, he'd probably be a better basketball player.

Maybe he's mentally ill, maybe he's just looking for attention. Maybe it's both.

Either way...he strikes me as the kind of guy that will 100% figure out that this is the wrong type of behavior...and by then his body will not be capable of catching up to his mind. What a waste.

I can sympathize with mental illness but as far as I know, he has anxiety disorder and a fear of flying. I understand some of his points but he often comes across as someone who feels the NBA owes him something because of his disorder rather than attempt to find a compromise.

They need to send this mother fucker to the slums of Rio De Janeiro Brazil. Let him work in that city's trash heap, it's a city in and of itself.
"Ohh I'm a big entitled baby and I'm afraid of airplanes and I'm gonna tell the world about it".

These slum people have never been on an airplane in their whole life. They'd probably hop right on it they'd be so curious at first sight. But no, "I'm Royce, I'm a big baby I'm scared of flying and you should support me!"

These slum workers ought to be scared of catching tetanus and hepatitis walking in a trash heap the size of a city with no shoes on. These people should be scared of finding a dead baby in that pile of trash that's a mile high.

Oh but you had an opportunity to make millions of dollars shooting hoops as a career but you decided to be a fucking fucktard pissy little child.

These people would probably eat the dead baby that they found in the trash just to have the opportunity Royce just fucking pissed away. They'd eat a dead body just to have the opportunity alone, then they'd die running before they did what Royce White just did. They'd sweat the skin right off their bones.

What an entitled prick. If there's an opposite of a hero in life, Royce you're exhibit A. You entitled pissy whiny fucking baby. You just won the lottery and ripped the winning ticket up and flushed it down the fucking toilet.

Mods forgive me but this is deeply disturbing to me just what an idiot this guy is. My God.

Instead of him helping other people know more and actually care about his condition (which was his 'lip service' ever since he got into the NBA), he just made it worse.

Yeah, as a mental health professional, I'm disappointed. It would've been awesome to have a professional athlete be a great advocate for mental health concerns since the very start of his career. But instead he's developed this awful track-record of statements and behaviors, none of which are related to anxiety disorders.

So do they Bengals sign him to play TE?

I wanted to draft him when he came out.

Call me crazy, but he is(was) too talented and played the position of the greatest need for the Cavs.
At the very least, I fly him into town for a conversation or 2, and toss him a non guaranteed league minimum for 1 year + team options for 2nd/3rd yrs.

Low risk, High reward.

And Mr Frank Reynolds: Not everyone in the world has aspirations to be rich that they do things against what their mind(however messed up it maybe) says. So what if the dude is afraid of flying, does that affect you? Theres no such thing as sucking it up if its that deeply rooted in his mind, obviously the money isn't as important to him as it is to you.

PS: I also see San Antonio taking a shot, or at least bringing him in for a talk, as well as a few other teams.
Even if the dude stays in the Dleague and doesn't travel and can develop his game and mind down there and works up the organization to eventually get to the big show, its a minimal risk.

I would want the Cavs to give him a shot if we weren't such a young team. If we were the Heat or Spurs and had vets that wouldn't take his bullshit then yes. But, with so many key players under 4 years of experience I don't want him to even be in the stands on gameday.

I'd say the same thing about his own understanding of his own condition. He doesn't know any more about it than he did when he was drafted and in the past 16 months, the only change seems to be that he's made his condition worse, not better.

My guess is that he'll be hospitalized, jailed, or dead before Christmas 2016.

I get what you are trying to say here. But for people who actually suffer from mental illness it isn't that easy. Their mind doesn't work in what would be considered rational ways. So trying to tell people "Look what people deal with in Africa" isn't going to really help.

The issue with Royce White isn't that he has mental illness or even some of his arguments. It is more that he conveys an attitude of entitlement. Rather than say ok NBA, I have mental illness, what can we do to resolve this?, he seems to want the NBA to give into all his demands and cater to him. This is wrong approach mental illness or not.

If he truly has a fear of flying and can't get over it, I don't know how he can be in the NBA. Plane travel is essential. And no team is going to want some guy who can only play home games.

On one level I feel bad for the guy for having mental illness. Having known people with it, it truly can be crippling. But he has adopted the wrong approach in trying to resolve his situation.

I think it's funny that Douglar takes such joy in Royce White's failures. Like what a random player to choose to want to fail.
