Ferry also had preliminary discussions with Elden Campbell about a return to the NBA as a backup to Zydrunas Ilgauskas. These talks originated while Ferry was in Los Angeles for a charity event recently.Campbell apparently hasn't ruled out a return to the NBA this season, and has also been contacted by the Dallas Mavericks, according to (NBA Scout's name).
Got this from another forum. Campbell isn't too bad a player to stash away on the injured list till we needed his body (playoffs). He is pretty broken down, but he is a genuine center. If Varejao was healthy, I'd waive Hamilton (despite his steady showing) and sign Campbell. A big experienced body would not go astray.

The Pistons basically used Campbell as a guy to harass Shaq, and it worked. I'd take him over Hamilton even though he's ancient.

Me too. Elden would be a nice addition

elden campbell :king: surewin for us, gives us experience with a yoeman mentality

he's lost alot though. he never was much for moving around a bunch and the last few years he has slowed down. 6 fouls on shaq or another big to body up against teams like the knicks w/ curry and frye, that's about it.

henderson done a good job. with the team going good i don't see danny pulling that trigger.

But Henderson isn't a center, and neither is anybody else we have to back up Z with the exception of Hamilton. Marshall isn't, Varejao isn't, and Gooden isn't. We can get away with those guys backing up Z against some centers, but not against others. Eldon is indeed a shadow of his former self, but down the stretch and into the playoffs he'd be a big improvement over what we have against certain players (and not just Shaq).

he also has a decent offensive game,i like him.i would take him even though i have liked what i have seen from hamilton when he gets his chance.

Interesting to look at. He's definitely more seasoned than Black Z. But I like Black Z's work ethic and energy out there. I wouldn't be opposed to letting it pan out for now and see how Zendon does down the stretch.

Elden is good for keeping big guys out of the paint. He may be old, but he is big enough, strong enough and knows how to play well enough that he can keep any opposing center out of the paint most of the time. He is the only center in recent memory that could not be backed down at will by Shaq.

Not really good for anything but that and getting easy points when he he under the basket...both of which are valuable things.

why get rid of alan henderson when you can get rid of zendon hamilton. henderson has actually helped this team, during the meaningful part of games. hamilton on the other hand has done nothing but play garabage minutes.

ever heard the saying dont fix it if its not broken.

Henderson has been playing well: hate to lose him just to sign Campbell.

If we can keep Henderson, then adding a Campbell type player is definitely worth it

Nobody said to get rid of Henderson dumbass ;)

Read this slowly... Signing Elden Campbell does not take up TWO roster spots...

You could say: "WHY IS THAT LePIP" ?

Well, because Elden Campbell is only one body/human being... Removing ONE current Cleveland Cavalier is all that is required to make such a move.. That is why everyone suggested ZENDON HAMILTON as the Cleveland Cavalier to be removed from the current roster and replaced with ELDEN CAMPBELL..Not ALAN HENDERSON..

Damnit Cali  You're making us both look bad. :chuckles: Pay attention.

Folks, please remember, LePIP = Southern California. Cali = Northern

i dont care what you southerns have to say.

play elden instead of zendon, but zendons sorry butt on the ir.

oh i didnt read all of the posts before. :chuckles:

he also has valuable postseason experience, which could be a nice thing on our fairly inexperienced team

or he could be like scott williams last year

Caught this yesterday too. It's a rumor so I don't know how much truth there is to it.

I can't see Campbell coming back until later in the season. He will be on somebody's roster come playoff time though.
Elden would be a nice signing. The Cavs do need a legitimate C to play behind Z and he's an experienced true C who has produced well in his career. Campbell doesn't have much left but could still contribute in limited minutes, especially come playoff time, and would be an upgrade over Hamilton.
