Browns: Russell hospitalized
The News
Safety Brian Russell has been hospitalized since Thursday because of a staph infection. The AP reported that he remained in the hospital on Monday because of an elbow injury, which is likely a recurrence of a skin staph infection. Russell had surgery more than three months ago to remove the initial skin staph infection. Coach Romeo Crennel ruled Russell out for their game this week against the Ravens.
Our View
This could end Russell's season. The Browns are not challenging for a playoff spot, and it is silly to risk his long term health by rushing him back. This is another blow to a poor Browns secondary.

How many Browns' players have had staph infections over the last year or two? Have other clubs had similar problems? Are the Browns the recipients of bad luck, incompetence, sabotage? I'm not knowledgeable on staph infections, but it just seems odd that every player on the roster has had one.

Very strange... seems like the only places they all have in common are the Browns facilities (Berea and the Stadium) and the Cleveland Clinic. And they claim they have checked their facilities and found nothing. So is the problem at the Clinic? Just wondering...

Re: Russell hospitalized: staph infection

unreal.

Re: Russell hospitalized: staph infection

Russell, BA, K2, and Bentley have all had staph infections.

Re: Russell hospitalized: staph infection

Very attractive for FA visits...

Best hospital in the world but you'll lose 30+ pounds of muscle because you'll have a staph infection..

Re: Russell hospitalized: staph infection

I work at the Clinic and I'm starting to wonder what's going on. And you're right cdt... that will definitely help lure FA's. They can use Bentley as an example.

"He came to us last offseason, blew out his knee the first practice, and now may miss all of next season too because of infection and further complications. Come be a part of the Browns!!!"

Our $31 million we are projected to have under the cap next year may not be enough to lure anyone here.

Re: Russell hospitalized: staph infection

We should've had a vbookie on his chances of getting staph. Would have bet the house.

OK, this is getting redarned-diculous! I took my dog to the vet yesterday, and he had a staph infection!   True story. The Browns curse has now reached the level where its effecting the pets of the fan base. This thing just got personal.

I think I have pink eye

The Browns have had several staff infections this year: Carthon, Robiskie Sr., and even Crennel.
