Sacramento Kings to VIRGINIA BEACH?!?!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Don't feel like going back and finding the tweets, but I saw reports that it was more information spewing from the VA Beach side than the Maloofs. About 8 cities are in play.

Once again, if Seattle doesn't get their team back at the next expansion/team relocation, they have the right to demand Stern's head.

Did they stop?

It still all comes down to which city is willing to pay up $500m (or whatever the going rate is these days) to fund a money-pit/arena and bribe an owner.

VA Beach's proximity to DC is a non-factor. Nobody is going to drive 5 hours through bloody I-95 traffic to watch a Wizard's game. I wonder if people will drive from Hampton Roads, Williamsburg, and Norfolk to watch a game in VA Beach even with light rail being added, but it at least makes sense as it creates a reason for people outside VA Beach to go to VA Beach during the off-season.

However, if VA Beach is in the Wizard's TV market area, then they'll have to come to some sort of accommodation.

btw, it's 208 miles from Washington to VA Beach, and 342 miles from Charlotte to VA Beach. So, if you're going to complain that they're too close to DC to deserve a franchise, then Cincinnati/Pittsburgh/Detroit are all too close to Cleveland.

And no, it's not a dump. It's a typical east coast beach/resort town with a nice boardwalk, clean beaches, and a family friendly environment.

Anyway, this is what happens when a team owner needs leverage ... they find a sucker. Sometimes the sucker, actually ends up with a team, though...

I lived in Fredericksburg and had to travel to DC and Alexandria on a near daily basis. 95 has the worst daily traffic congestion I've ever encountered. Nothing like working a 12 hour shift and then having to spend two hours in traffic on the way home.

i picked up my first girl in va beach when I was 13! what an awkward, unsuccessful mess that was. But enough about every aspect of my life, VA beach is great as far as girls with big asses and short shorts, but its a fucking tourist city.. or am I just completely off? It's like giving a team to the Caribbean islands.

Kansas City would be before St Louis, especially because St Louis is a HUGE hockey town.

Yeah...KC would make a lot of sense to me. Plus they already have the beautiful Sprint Center in KC which would be an awesome NBA Arena.

I wonder if it would be more difficult to recruit Dight Howard to Virginia Beach, than to Kansas City, in the great state of misery...
