Cavs' Pavlovic injures ankle in practice

December 5, 2005
CLEVELAND (AP) -- Cavaliers reserve forward Sasha Pavlovic will be out at least two weeks after spraining his left ankle during practice on Monday in Sacramento, Calif.

X-rays were negative, the club said. The Cavaliers, who have lost the first two games of their West Coast trip, play the Kings on Tuesday night.

Pavlovic, a third-year pro, is averaging 1.9 points in 12 games this season. He and swingman Luke Jackson have struggled, forcing first-year coach Mike Brown to use a smaller rotation of players.

Pavlovic averaged 4.8 points in 65 games last season.

I wonder if this will speed up Ira's timetable. He wasn't supposed to play for another 7-10 days because of conditioning....he looks ready I wonder if they'll bump it up.

Thats terrible news for Pavlovic who had just got back into the rotation, albeit for minor minutes. I can see Ira being brought in after the Sacramento game if Ira is healthy enough. Looks like Luke will see court time again for all you Jackson junkies.

Great lets get Luke "Wasting Minutes Jackson" some more time to not do anything... I like Luke don't think i'm hating but I wont give him kudos when he hasn't done anything..scoringwise maybe a trey every 3 games or so, rebounding a couple or so, and some turnovers and stuff...

This isnt really a big deal.

Luke was getting most of the play time of these 2 anyway even though I like Sasha more.

I am like some of the others tho hopefully this pushes Ira back sooner because the Cavs need all the defensive help this team can get.

Neither of them have done anything, and have been major disappointments, IMO. Most teams have a guy that is 9 or 10 on the bench, that can come in and light it up for at least 10 on a night - not sure with these guys...

Neither player has looked comfortable in their role, but I preferred Sasha's confidense in his shot. It will be interesting to see whether Ira is now injected and Sasha is put on the inactive list. Maybe Marty is ready to take on the small forward position. LOL

Like I've said before, it's tough to get a chance to make a consistent contribution when you only play in 3 minute stretches at best.
Sasha's injury really doesn't hurt the Cavs. I wish it did have some effect because that would mean that the coach was actually giving him a full chance to get some consistent minutes and help him develop.

Isn't Newble supposed to be back within the next 2 weeks?
