Sir'Dominic Pointer - A Cleveland Cavalier

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I didn't say black people aren't allowed to have ethnic names.

Chinese guy with funny names? What the hell? Chinese names are from another language.

You are off the rails in this post.

Black people have their own culture, or haven't you been paying attention to pop culture for 100 years.

Those names are part of the culture. Therefore they are ethnic names.

what the fuck is going on in this thread

Everything.

I speak for all black people when I say that some would be pissed off at the indication that they're part of "black people culture." Not because black people culture would be bad, but because...WTF is black people culture anyways? They're not all the same and don't have the same interests, taste in music, preference for first names, etc.

At least in America, many of them are pretty vastly different. I mean...is there a white people culture? I don't know that I'd really want Mississippians speaking for my opinions on food, the Confederate flag, career preferences, taste in music etc.

And I don't share a whole hell of a lot in common with Mark Cuban and his billionaire friends or the guy waving flags on the side of a road on a construction crew or a fat, white dude in Alaska collecting welfare and sitting at home all day.

You can apply the same to Jay Z, Daymond John or any other extremely rich and powerful black people vs the black dude on a construction crew in Ohio or the black guy collecting welfare in DC.

I do get your overarching point however that all black people are bad. I just completely disagree with it.

This is a very important post. A traditional name, whether it is English, Norwegian, Chinese, Nigerian is completely different than something like Sir'Dominic.

Who determines what a black name is? You are totally dead wrong about this.

I never said anything about black names. You are assuming things. I am talking about odd names. I think we all know an odd name when we see one. Through the lens of traditional corporate american that is.

Odd names in the hiring process....they can't help, but they can hurt. That is a fact of life.

Everything.

Groups aren't monolithic obviously so maybe I shouldn't have said the culture, but denying it as a part is not fair to those who practice. Some made up names are beautiful and some aren't , but that is pretty subjective.

Cavatt is getting killed in this thread

His posts were kind of nuanced. I actually think he was mocking me. He might also have been wholeheartedly supporting me.

It was very confusing and thus, very well done.

White people generally like mayonnaise

Most beautiful made up name contest. go
