So long, David Griffin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So Griffin is basically a lock for GM of the year.

I really don't think so. That award should really be for GMs that make shrewd moves with limited assets to improve their team. Basically the guy who can do the most with less. Not a guy that lucked into the best situation in the NBA and is basically playing with house money.

There's still a buttload of cap gymnastics that he excelled at, and he's managed to acquire additional talent while still keeping assets moving forward. A "little" thing like going after the Haywood contract and understanding the potential of that contract is a very savvy move.

But to me, it may be Blatt that determines whether or not Griffin deserves Exec of the Year. Hiring the first Euroleague coach ever as an HC is a very risky move, and one no other team in the league has ever taken by definition. But Griffin has been scouting him for a long time, talked to more than 100 of his former players, and decided that was the guy he wanted no matter what the rest of the league thought. And he hired him despite other people saying he should go after Mark Jackson or someone else with whom LBJ would be more comfortable.

Bottom line is that hiring Blatt was an incredibly ballsy move, and if he turns out to be the right guy for this team, Griffin can and should be a lock.

Make this happen David!

Bledsoe

Marion

Lebron

Love

Hibbert

I'm starting to wonder if David has any say so what so ever. Does he add any basketball savy? What deals has he made or was looking to make on his own? He just a phone guy?

I'm starting to wonder if you have anything intelligent to say whatsoever. Do you add anything to this board? What posts have you made that are positive at all? Are you just a troll poster?

What's the hype with bledsoe? he's been underwhelming so far, he may be more mature than Irving regarding his bb iq or decision making but Irving has much more portential.

I think if we see Griff do anything , it'll be to add some size and since Mike Miller seems to have forgotten how to play, a small forward.

The question ends up being of course, would Blatt even play anyone we get. And to the poster who wonders about David Griffin, he is a well respected basketball mind and has been considered so for years.

His tenure has been a cakewalk... Sell off carefully accumulated assets for talent. The question now is can he do this with fewer assets, cap constraints and egos/playing time concerns to manage.

This is the time where Griff will earn his keep.

People like Bledsoe b/c he is more of a distributor vs. a shooting PG, therefore, people think he would fit better with LBJ and Love.

He also plays much better D then Irving.

With that being said, Irving looks like the type of player you want in the playoffs. He has shown a propensity to deliver in crunch-time situations.

Interesting.

(I think we know the one main guy who is untouchable)

Everybody can be untouchable; I have no problem with that philosophy. What I have a problem with though is when David voices this sentiment publicly . I feel like it just puts unnecessary pressure on the team and puts our players, and coach, under an even bigger microscope.

I feel like he's just bringing more unwanted attention to the team and that's not something we need.

Not new or shocking news here. He stated this in his presser when he officially became the GM.
