0-15 tonight, and not much better in the previous few games. Damon got hurt a few games back but he has played anyways...

so whats going on here.

All shooters have their dry patches, believe me I know, and unfortunately they are both in a dry patch at the same time. Or maybe their confidence levels aren't at the point where they were last season when they could drill shots with their eyes closed.

Now that they are in their dry patch, they have to find other ways of being effective. Setting up teammates, getting on the boards, stepping up on defense.

dj has a sore ankle still, and him, donyell, and larry are all battling flu like symptoms.

It's just a crappy stretch for all of them. It's funny that when we signed these guys I thought to myself, "The days of going multiple minutes without a FG are going to be over for the most part." I figured that even if we are having an off-night, one of those guys will be ok and pick us up. It's just a fluke thing (I hope) that they are all slumping at the same time.

once damon and marshall both been in the NBA for a while they will get thr shots back and when they do we are gonig to be sweet, the thing im worryied about is hughes he is missing wide open shots i no he will get his shots back but how lond will it take?? why out someone backing up lebron i think we are in trouble. but hope they dry spell ends in ther next game.

the ''once'' that i wrote above take that out it should not be there my bad.

We dont play again till tuesday or wednesday....hopefully they get some rest.

Jones ankle sprain changes his shot. He needs to get healthy again before the dead eye comes back. Don't know about marshall, but when he isn't shooting he is still contributing with rebounds and blocks. When these two run dry we need to remember that both Z and Gooden can score on the inside game. We need to be able to shift into Power ball and keep winning.

marshall is rushing, damon is jacking because he thinks he won't see the ball again and hughes hurt his hand.

How to end slump? Just keep shooting

Marshall unfazed, but pressure on halfcourt offense

CLEVELAND - Donyell Marshall has missed 4,584 shots during his 12-year NBA career, so he's not letting the nine that he missed last Saturday bother him.

After a smashing start, Marshall is one of a number of Cavaliers who has run into a rough patch shooting the ball of late. It has been a major factor in their two-game losing skid as they've shot 33 percent in the losses.

Marshall was 0-for-9 in the loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves and, for the first time this season, didn't make at least one 3-pointer in a game. After averaging 11.9 points in the first eight games, the forward has averaged just 4.8 points in his past five, going just 6-of-27 from 3-point range.

He has been through it before and will likely go through it again, so he intends to follow the long-standing shooter's mantra of maintaining a short memory.

We've all been playing since we were 8 or 9 years old, and you're going to have times like these, Marshall said after practice Monday. I took great shots. I didn't force any, and I had three shots go in and out, as a player you count those as makes.

Marshall, Larry Hughes, Damon Jones and Zydrunas Ilgauskas shot a combined 5-of-41 in the loss to the Timberwolves, the reason why forward LeBron James' season-high 38 points weren't able to deliver victory.

This is but a little blip within the 82-game schedule, and perhaps due, after the Cavs averaged 105 points in the first 11 games, the most in the league.

We're playing unselfishly, moving the ball, getting guys open shots and guys just aren't making them, said Hughes, who is just 6-for-24 in the past two games as he's fought off a cold As a professional, you want to make it one or two-game slumps, you don't want to go a whole week playing bad.

The last two opponents, the Indiana Pacers and Timberwolves, both made conscious efforts to keep the Cavs from running and force them to execute in the half court. This is a trend the Cavs can expect to see much more often, and one in which they will have to adapt. As for their shooting woes, it isn't something they're worrying about.

You're going to keep the routine that got you here, Marshall said. You're not going to get out of the slump not taking a shot.

Dribbles

Forward Drew Gooden sat out much of practice Monday to rest various ailments, including an injured finger. He is expected to play against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.... Point guard Eric Snow beat the Wolves' Troy Hudson on a crucial jump ball in the fourth quarter Saturday, showing an impressive vertical leap. Sometimes people think just because I don't jump much that I can't grab the rim or something, Snow said, jokingly.... Hughes was in bed for days to fight off a cold and lost a few pounds but hopes to be back to 100 percent by Wednesday.

I think Marshall and Jones will be fine; shooters have slumps. Hughes is not a shooter, never has been, never will be. He's a scorer because he makes a lot of threes and free throws, but he's not a shooter.

dj is not as good as he thinks he is, but we don't need him as a shooter. we need him to distribute the ball and play some defense against the other team.

marshall is a scorer and he will be just fine in the long run. he is a proven pro, but he is slowing down.

if these two guys were all-nba they would have more experience getting their teams into the playoffs. they aren't all-nba and they don't get their teams into the post season that much. our offense needs to come from Lebron and hughes and ilgauskas. we have one of the best four records in the nba. no worries about the great cav's, a team that is light years ahead of where we were a year ago.

If Damon did what you said (as well as shoot 3's) he's be starting over Snow, easily.

damon is on his tenth nba team (or so) in ten years. he has never found a team willing to keep him two years in a row. they all get disillusioned with his poor shot selection and shoddy defense, and realize that they can find those attributes in just about any nba point guard. last year he played with shaq and wade and low and behold we give him a multi year contract. we should have kept kevin ollie. ollie is a better defender, better at distributing the ball. better at protecting the ball. a reliable in not sensational shooter. jones only edge is in three point bombs.

after jones has played for and been let go by one third of the nba teams, we are committed to him for four years. the good news is that he will only be 32 years in the final year of his deal. snow and marshall have contracts that end the same year as damon's. snow and marshall will be 34 years old when their deals end. lots of nba players are productive passed those ages.

That is the most horrendous, prepostrous, and uncalled for statement I've ever heard on this board....
