I heard that a group from OLahoma City have bought them, and a move might be on the way... link coming..

Man.. that's unfortunate. Seattle will get a team again though, no doubt about that.

Starbucks? Perhaps...

Maybe the Seattle Rain Men.

They're after me now.

Wow that's terrible, when I heard Gilbert was from Michigan I was dreading a move somewhere, luckily he chose to stay here.

I feel bad for Sonics fans :(

:( Sonics were always a team that I liked when I was younger..I loved their jerseys

My favorite was the 93-94 team.. They won 60+ games, but lost to the Nuggets in round 1..

Shawn Kemp
Gary Payton
Kendall Gill
Vincent Askew
Ricky Pierce
Sam Perkins
Detlef Schrempf
Michael Cage
Nate McMillian
Ervin Johnson
Steve Scheffler

That's all I can remember..:chuckles:

It's one thing to move the Grizzlies outta Vancover... It's a whole other thing to move a well respected franchise that's been around for 30 years or so outta town.

It's hard to believe it's come to this, the Payton/Kemp Sonics were elite for so long.

^Ding ding ding. I remember seeing all those guys at the Gund except Sheffler, who's he? Another one that stuck out in my mind was Jim McIlvaine and his controversial contract for a 1-dimensional shot blocker.

damn i lived in oklahoma for 15 years, while basketball might be able to suceed football there is so much more popular. had you told me at the begining today a team other than the hornets was goign to get moved into oklahoma i would have laughed at you.

Real GM said that sources are saying that the new group plans on keeping the team in Seattle, but that is bull!!! No WAY does a group from OKC buy the team MOST LIKELY TO MOVE and then NOT move it! I mean, the stars are aligned: Sonics are losing money in Seattle, OKC is the next market in line for a team, BINGO! It's over for the Sonics in Seattle.

I kind of don't feel bad for the city as a whole. They had many chances to save them and build them a new arena but they didn't step up. Stern went there many times to work things about but the city didn't cooperate.

The fans, of course, are a different story. No fan base deserves this, but in the end, the fans are always the ones that get screwed. We know how it went with the Browns. Kinda hard to feel sorry for anybody else TOO much after what happened with us.

The Sonics lease with their arena is the WORST in the NBA! There is NO WAY you can make money as an owner on THAT lease. They lose so much revenue to the city and private investors that I don't blame Schultz one bit for canning them.

However, I hold the '95-'96 Sonics close to my heart. That team was so fun to watch. I loved those NEW uni's with the space needle, the dark green...it was pimp. In the '96 Finals I wanted them to beat the Bulls so badly. And EVERYBODY had the Reebok Kemp shoes in school...EVERYBODY!!!:)

I had those shoes.

I remember Mutumbo holding the ball up after winning then being interviewed and sounding like the Cookie Monster.

Great team/music: Sonics and Pearl Jam/Alice in Chains.
