Only good thing about Damon is his wife comes to Cleveland. She's good for a go round.

FTR, I think Johnny Damon is a washed-up douche bag. I mean, just check out one of the pictures from his site:

Frankly, signing him is the equivalent of several years ago when the team signed Brady Anderson.

Thing is, I think the Tribe knows this, too. What they also know is that they need offense, and this move speaks to how desperate they are to get something going.

Brady juiced and Damon hasn't, Brady had a terrible year the season before he signed in Cleveland while Damon had a pretty decent 2011, and Damon has had a much, much, much better career than Anderson. Aside from that, they are totally alike though.

Washed up vets at the end of their careers? Yes. That was the only comparison I was making. There is a reason why Johnny Damon was available two weeks into the season, and it wasn't because his 1.3m salary was difficult to match. And you have no idea if Damon ever juiced- we just know he didn't get caught.

You could say that about every single baseball player that hasn't been caught using steroids...unless there's some kind of evidence to suggest a guy might have juiced (one or two huge years), I'm just not going to do that...slippery slope right there.

Damon didn't have a job until now because he wanted to go to a contender where he'd have guaranteed AB's that would also pay his asking price (which was higher than $1.25 M). Some teams offered less money but playing time, but Damon held out, which proved to be a mistake on his part as the teams interested in him simply moved on to other options. When the Indians came calling, he wisely realized that, barring injury on another team, this might be his only chance to get regular AB's. He's also 277 hits away from 3,000 for his career, which is why guaranteed AB's might be especially important to him.

Damon can still hit, so while he's not the same player he once was, he's certainly not washed up like Anderson was.

Serious, who was the last good corner OF this organization drafted and developed? Brian Giles? Manny Ramirez?

The fact that we have to scramble for a washed-up Johnny Damon two weeks into the season because we apparently don't have a corner OF in our system who is worth a **** is really damning to this organization.

We can say that about a lot of teams.

Who was the last corner player the Tigers developed?

Don't care about the "developing" as much as the "keeping."

Considering the Indians will more than likely not be able to keep their top tier prospects once they hit free agency (thanks to the fucked up MLB system), I care a great deal about the developing.

Crazy talk.

so the Indians still haven't announced this yet?

Paul Hoynes says Monday they will probably announce it.

Yea he has to pass his physical before he could be signed.
