Looks like the Nets are gonna be getting rid of him pretty soon. They want another roster spot for their 3 points guards and apparently hes tha odd man out.

Hes got like a 7mil expiring contract which would be amazing put together wit Wallys at the trade deadline.

If Ben really is having serioous back problems already then Ferry might think about adding another big man to come off the bench.

Not a great player but hed just provide some temporary help at the 4 and 5 and would probably be traded again in February.

I wouldn't offer a bag of chips for Stromile Swift. He's garbage.

pavs/filler cash and a 2nd for swift.....not sure if we will trade snow for him....thats alot of loot to pay for swift. (14 million or so)....pavs + dupree if we can trade him would equl swift, give them cash or a 2nd.....swift would be perfect for the rotation.

I like his athleticism and engery, he would be a decent big off the bench to have.....

They wanna trade him for a roster spot and man I could swear Snow retired this week.

So it would either be a draft pick and cash or one of our guys for 2 of theirs (dont see that happenin though).

I like his expiring contract more than anythin else. Would be decent off the bench for at least half the season. And can play forward and center.

I would like to get him. Adds depth and athleticism and a great expiring contract also. I wonder if the nets would even consider a deal with us considering there hard after lebron and dont want to help his situation here in Cleveland.

He'd be great for depth, and athletecism, but I don't think that trading Ben to get another player that can play PF is not something we would want to do. We need more depth not a straight up trade.

No one said we'd trade Ben for Stromile. People suggested Snow, Pavs, etc.

I wouldn't mind Swift, but I'd rather wait a month or two into the season to see if there's something better that comes along rather than make a trade before the season starts. If we can go on longer without another big man (i.e. we're pretty healthy, and some combo of Wright, Hickson, and Jackson can give us some quality minutes), then I say wait til near the trade deadline for a big. If we're absolutely screwed with bigs early on (major injury problems, the rookies aren't ready yet), then make a trade sooner obviously.

Sorry, Sam.

Swift can't survive in a real defensive system... he makes Gooden look like a rocket scientist in
rotating and following a disciplined defensive structure.

I ca'nt blame you for being curious... but the guy will never get big minutes for a contender without brain surgery.

The beloved Joe Smith was great, but average at best defensively. If he comes here he would be the third or fourth big, depending on Ben's Back. Why does everyone think this level player needs to be Dwigh Howard or something? Someone semi compitant with a 12 foot jumper would be huge. Joe Smith put up 8 points a 5 boards for us last year, and is sorely missed...Swift could be huge for us by just putting up 6 pts and 4 boards in 18 mins a game. He will playing against almost all backups, defensive abilities can be minimal as long as the effort is there.

Swift could be very good coming off the bench, we have not had an athletic big since Lebron has been hear. If he could rebound and play some D he would be great. his athleticism alone is more than enough to get him time

Can't agree on this. Not when we have JJ Hickson to develop. If JJ has to beat out a physically limited but savvy veteran group like Ben Wallace and Lorenzen Wright, he will work to improve his rotations, defensive positioning, and everything that these two do well. If you play Swift in front of him, what messege does that send?

Getting JJ to work hard to improve throughout the year is more important to this franchise than the 10 minutes per night Swift would bring us. I like the way we developed AV and Boobie... with veteran players getting modest minutes, the young kids did whatever the coaches asked in order to steal away that playing time.

We traded him to the Bulls along with Shannon, Larry and Stupid... No need to bring Stro back..

Once was enough..
