Summer League Game 1 - Cavs vs. Lakers - Friday, July 12, 2013, 8:00pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can we get whatever the opposite of a "safari" is for Chris Quinn?

Ehhh bad shooting night for 1 of my 2 favorite Cavaliers but all in all good win. I'll take a win with a bad shooting night over a loss with good shooting numbers any day and I'm sure Dion would too.

I will say though I am surprised on how quickly people turned on Dion once he started missing shots. It's like that's all people saw at the moment instead of noticing how he shifted his game towards getting his teammates involved by making good passes. Dude should've had 12 or 13 assists. It's whatever though

Oh and Dion> Drummond :chuckles:

YES. Told you fuckers the Cavs weren't tanking anymore. Beat the Lakers, bitch!! 1-0, sign of things to come!

^^^ That is the equivalent of posters bitching about Dion. An overreaction to something that really doesn't mean shit moving forward.

Not that it's about W/L during the summer league, but our best player had a horrific shooting game and they still won. I think that is a good sign.

Carrick is amazing. Looks like our own version of the San Antonio Danny Green.

Didn't look like that to me at all...besides the amazing part. He looked great, but he looked to be a very different player than Danny Green.

Also, some people are concerned about having Bynum around our young players. I am more concerned with having Chris Quinn around our young players. Quinn is one of those special players who is so bad that he can actually suck the talent out of his teammates over time. Ship him out before next game.

Anyone know why KJones and Goulding were DNP's tonight?

Zeller played alright, and whoever J. Taylor is looked pretty solid too.

do we get a trophy or is it like a coupon packet?

I think everyone gets a participation ribbon and a free oil change at your participating Jiffy Lube.

Officially switching here from cavfanatic forums. I'll admit Dion had a terrible game but people over there are debating whether or not to make Dion our backup PG... Anyways Felix looked nice and Zeller was decent as well. Hopefully Dion will have a much better game against Memphis on Sunday assuming he plays. His main issue in my opinion is that when he gets misses a few shots his entire game suffers. Although he did have some nice passes.

There isn't a GM in the NBA that would take Dion Waiters over Andre Drummond at this point in their careers. I would include Chris Grant on that list as well.

Drummond is a physical freak that is putting up monster numbers at a position of high value . He is also two years younger than Waiters.

Drummond is going to be an absolute force in the NBA.

Saying there isn't a GM in the league who would take Waiters over Drummond is such a weak ass opinated counter arguement that it full displays your ignorance because apparently there 8 GM's that didn't think Drummond was better than who they picked and 4 of those picks came after Waiters. This right here already makes your first statement false. Waiters is far a more versatile player with the way the game is played in this era than many people would like to admit to themselves.

You didn't bring anything up that would counter any of the statistical production I showed when you asked if people had watched Drummond. Last time I checked basketball was a more than blocking shots and grabbing rebounds so it appears you haven't watched Drummond at all this summer and were just looking at certain categories in the box score.

On Thursday Drummond couldn't even keep the Heat bigs, Dunigan/Varnado from shooting over 70% dropping 17 points and grabbing 10 boards when the Pistons played yesterday, that is some weak ass work for someone who will be a force in the NBA. Today only Dunigan played and he missed 3 shots went for over 10+ when he should have maybe been able to get 3 shots off if Drummond actually had some basketball IQ. Mason Plumlee went for 10 and 15 against him on 60% from the field, Olynyk and Melo combined for 19 and 9 on 8/16 shooting when matched up against Drummond, then Steven Adams went for 11-6 against Drummond on 80% shooting.

When you can actually bring in some statistical evidence to show that Drummonds been above average in categories other than rebounds/blocks please do. Aside from that Drummond is so one dimensional that it isn't even funny, doesn’t even have the IQ to be an above average man post defender if he’s going to give up that high of FG% to opposing bigs on the norm.

I don't want to read per 36 or advance metrics either. Drummond only played 24+ minutes 12 times last year so they could hide his low basketball IQ, which was a brilliant move because it inflated his value and also in turn had an effect on all his advanced stats so they project higher than what his actual production will be with 25+minutes a night on consistent basis

Edit:

On a side note can we stop with the Waiters Drummond stuff, it's over and done with. The more time goes the more and more it looks like the right choice.

No way to have an accurate comparison between the two due to posistion so it would be awesome if this would stop being brought up in game threads and left in the Drummond thread.

Felix looks more like a Iman shumpert that can make a shot off screens. Great defensively.
