The 2015 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There's no way Swisher can be an everyday RF, right? Is Moss a good defender in the outfield or infield?

I still think there's a chance Swisher rebounds this year. Dude had a 3.8 WAR in '13.

I realize he's getting up there in age and double knee surgery isn't the best sign - but I think there's a decent chance he's mildly productive for the Tribe next year.
Swisher is a pretty competitive person, which can be overlooked because of the over the top personality. Unless steroids have been uninvented, I think there is always a chance he bounces back. He does enough right at the plate for me to think he can return to being productive if he can get his pop back.

I think DHing Swisher as much as possible is the best way to stagnate is decline. He may not like it, but he needs to rest his body. Limiting his work to batting four times a game should do that quite nicely, and then he can still play 1B or RF in reserve roles.
Completely agree. Our best chance for Swisher to bounce back offensively is to not play him in the field at all.

Jason Kipnis had surgery to repair a torn tendon in his finger suffered while lifting.

Should be fine for the start of 2015.

Updated the original post to add Gavin Floyd. For now I'm projecting TJ House to be on the outside looking in as far as the rotation goes.

Jesus Aguilar going yard.

Loving some Venezuelan Beisbol

Gotta love Billy Beane. Everyone thinks he is rebuilding, then he turns around and snags Ben Zobrist and Yunel Escobar for Jason Jaso, a minor leaguer and 73 year old former Tribe and Oriole Boog Powell.

Lastoria just posted on Twitter that he isn't buying the "Shields to Indians" rumors. Anyone else see these rumors?

The Shields rumor came from the Lake County Sentinel:

Source: Indians make contract offer to James Shields
Per a source not inside the Cleveland Indians organization but with knowledge of workings inside the organization has told the Sentinel that the Cleveland Indians are the unnamed team that made a contract offer to Kansas City Royals free agent right handed pitcher James Shields.

The deal reportedly is for four years with a fifth year option.

The 33 year old Shields is a 9 year veteran with a career record of 114-90 and a 3.72 ERA.

Shields also has appeared in the post season four times, three with the Tampa Bay Rays and once this past season with the Kansas City Royals. Shields is 3-6 in the post season with a 5.40 ERA, 1-2 in the World series.

The 6'3 right hander is very durable and has pitched over 200+ innings in his last 8 big league seasons.

The same guy also stated earlier today that if Haslam can convince Kubiak to coach the Browns, he'll fire Pettine

Anyone know if there is anything to this or how legit this guy is? I would love Shields but this seems like those rumors that always pop and then we hear a offer was not made or talks never got far.

He's not legit at all, but the news wouldn't come as a surprise IMO.

Late in the market, prices are dropping.

I don't really care for the move, though.

Same guy/paper who wrote today that if Haslam could get Kubiak to agree in secret to coach the Browns then he would fire Pettine.

So either this guys has some really deep, new sources in both the Browns and Indians organization or he's just trying to drum up some hit and interest in his paper.

I'm not buying on the Shields rumor at all. If you're going after a guy like Shields, you don't sign Gavin Floyd. You're going to have two of Salazar/Bauer/Carrasco/House in AAA? It just doesn't make sense (and this is coming from someone who likes Shields a lot).

I do find it intriguing that some decent relievers are still out there - Janssen, K-Rod, Soriano, Wilson, Badenhop - to name a few.

With the innings Allen and Shaw logged last year, I'd love to add one (or even two) more late-inning arms.
