The Andre Drummond Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was just countering that point that the teams that passed on him all suck. Well, Detroit isn't exactly lighting a fire under anybody's ass. They're sitting three games under .500 and have yet to beat a single team with a winning record.

And come the fuck on. If it's fair to comment that the teams that passed on him suck it's entirely fair to comment that the team that took him isn't much better even after signing a free agent to essentially a max contract and trading for a veteran point guard.

The guy that drafted him built a championship team that contended for 4 years. Can you say the same for any of the GM's that picked ahead of him?

I don't understand how this is relevant when evaluating Drummond.

It's not, Drummond is a great young center who just had a stupid good stat line but what his point was that even though he's putting up good numbers, Detroit still sucks. The point that Detroit sucks was in response to the comment about how all the teams that passed on him suck, which is terribly wrong anyway.

With that line of thinking that makes Kyrie sucks more? I mean, he's going on his 3rd year of ineptitude.

And after that the guy who drafted him signed Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon to big money deals that set the franchise back half a decade. He had to give up a future first round pick just to pass off Gordon's corpse to Charlotte. That pick will likely come this year (1-8 protected) in one of the deepest drafts since 2003.

Yes, Dumars won a championship years ago. He's also been running a team that hasn't made the playoffs since the 08/09 season, where the team was swept from the first round, and has made some of the most laughably bad free agency signings in the league over that time. Forgive me if I'm not shaking in my boots over Joe Dumars running a team in our division these days.

For all that some of you guys love to kill Grant, we're just as close to the playoffs as the Pistons, a team that has been rebuilding for two to three years longer than us, just signed Josh Smith to a max contract, and probably won't have their first round pick this year. We also have more assets than they do and equivalent cap space.

"Drummond was limited to 34 minutes, but he still became the first player to have at least 31 points, 19 rebounds and six steals in a game since Hakeem Olajuwon*in 1990."

Thank God Dion is on a roll right now or I'd be jumping.

Tristan and Drummond would be a mean rebounding front-court but offensively...?
tristan is going to ultimately end up on the bench - drummond or not. so, not an issue.

On 12-15 shooting. But 7-18 from the foul line. He's still a role player folks! Still gotta prove himself against NBA starting caliber defense!
i am waiting for him to try the underhanded free throws.

i mean, i'm a big fan of the guy. pushed real hard to draft him, and still think not doing so was a massive mistake. but at some point he really needs to say fuck it and just try it, if only for the lolz.

Yet, this is a Drummond thread where a guy who puts up 31 points, 19 rebounds and 6 steals in a win can still be hated upon and be the focus for the Pistons poor record even though he was a bench player last year...smh.

When they win, he's not part of the 3 man core. When they lose, he doesn't contribute because he's padding his stats. This kid can never catch a break.

Btw, where are all those guys that said he has to prove he's a starter? Torn was throwing all kinds of stats saying that he was getting production against scrubs last season and that he was going down in flames if he ever started.

Seems like everything you're bitching about has nothing to do with my post that you quoted, so not sure why it's a reply to what I posted.

You know the free throw situation is bad when a 7-18 raises your season percentage.

That said, watching the game highlights the kid looked like a monster out there. He was doing anything he wanted.

He had 2 open court steals where he picked a guy clean in a way that someone 6'10 270lbs shouldn't be able to.

He doesn't even turn 21 until next August. He's barely scratched the surface of his development.

It is just not fair.

Hey at least we have Dion Waiters

I am in the acceptance stage of grief at this point. We just need to find a center that can match up with this dude. I think in three years when it is playoff time and we face them we will have the Orlando series all over again where our bigs are just being manhandled by Drummond.

As soon as Drummond touched the court last year, I did the same thing with him that I have done with Jonas, Klay THompson, Kawhi, Manimal, Harrison Barnes and now Ben McLemore and Victor Oladipo...

Tell yourself that those guys were picked just before we had a chance to draft them, and put them out of your mind.

Otherwise you will go insane. To miss on a talent like Drummond hurts.

Honestly, Blue Kahuna, its time to move on bruh. You bring more to this board than these repetitive Drummond posts. The entire league has already acknowledged that any GM after NOLA who passed on Drummond really missed the ball, no denial from any Chris Grant apologist will absolve him of totally missing a franchise changing talent like this. He very well may still have to answer for that. I know I am about 0% confident in his prep to pro evaluation skills now so Im hoping we dont need to rely on that from him again.

Guys knocking Drummond are just batshit crazy... Sorry, but this kid is the real deal.

I'm imagining what Drummond and Kyrie could do together.... now I'm going to go cry myself to sleep.
