The Cavs vs Bulls Series

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just to be clear:

The team that has the best record in each of the three divisions in each conference is declared division champion. The three division champions, and another team in the conference with the best record, are seeded one through four by their records.

This guarantees the division champions no worse than the fourth seed, and also guarantees the team with the second-best record in the conference will be the second seed even if it happens to finish second in its division.

Of the remaining eleven conference teams, the four with the best records are seeded fifth through eighth based on their record.

Based on this, yes, the Wizards are right now the #4 seed. Cavs 5.

The division leaders are Toronto, Chicago (our division) and Atlanta.

Cavs are 3.5 games behind Bulls (doable). And 5 games behind Wizards (also doable). Still a ton of games left.

The #2 seed is still very achievable, and is a great goal. To me Atlanta is the clear best team in the East (not including Cavs) and would want to avoid them until the Eastern finals.

I hear ya! But to me if they play like this, only Atlanta in the East has a shot. They are formidable!!

So rather play them last.

Only team that slightly scares me is the East is the Hawks, but honestly they should be scared more than us. I don't care about their regular season record. We have a healthy Lebron who's coming off of four straight Finals appearances. Lebron won't be denied. He's got his eyes on the chip and if Love and Kyrie give us what we expect them too, we've got a great shot.

I am hoping that we will be on an 11 game streak when we face the Clippers again. If that happens, we should only be a few games out, and likely a couple of weeks away, from making a jump in the standings. I think this team will still have to survive a few bumps before the Playoffs, but I think they have turned the corner.

Watching the Bulls game against Golden State right now. Rose is so skilled, but so selfish. He's driven into triple teams 4-5 times in the first quarter and hasn't looked to pass once.

Should this be renamed a potential series with the hawks?

Agreed. We've gone 2-0 so far against the Bulls this year and they haven't looked like much of a threat. More scared of the Hawks.

They were playing some Hawks radio on 850 today. It was pretty funny. I guess Goldhammer went on there and they asked him if folks in Cleveland were worried about running into the "Hawks juggernaut" and he simply replied that he doesn't think any of us are worried at all about the Atlanta Hawks. :chuckle:

Why, don't get me wrong, the Hawks have been a great story, and I know they've beaten us badly. The regular season doesn't tell you that much. The Nets swept the Heat last year in the regular season, it didn't carry over in the playoffs.

The Hawks remind me too much like the Pacers. They have a nice team, they play well together, but come playoff time, you need guys that can carry you. Bottom line, the Hawks don't want to face a team with LeBron and Kyrie, two great players that can take over the game at will, in any game.

I worry about teams that need every ounce of contribution from role players to do so well, like a team like them. Because when things break down, and they always do in the post season, who is going to carry them?

Already looking forward to this Feb 6th matchup between the Hawks and Warriors.

That should be a good game to really evaluate both of those teams.

Oh, trust me I think we could win in 5 games in a playoff series with the Hawks. Just saying I'm more scared of them than the Bulls, a team I haven't been impressed by.

It all comes down to health with the Bulls, but I still think they're our biggest threat. I still don't totally discount Washington either, I think they're pretty good, and they match up pretty well against us. I don't seriously see Washington beating us, but I do think they'd give us a good fight.

The Bulls have been too chaotic, much like us, that's why I don't think you can totally judge the games we've beaten them. Or how they've looked at times.

I am not saying those weren't good wins, but if they're at their full strength, playing good basketball, they would be a tough out for us. They have a very talented and deep team.

But a lot of it will come down to Rose, and if he'll be there come playoff time. If not, then count them out.

The one thing that has helped the Hawks is how healthy they have been.

They have played 45 games. You look at their key players, their top 7 scorers in order.

Teague 41 games
Milsap: 44 games
Horford: 43 games.
Korver 44 games
Carroll 40 games
Schroder 43 games
Scott 43 games

Compare that to the Cavs who had LeBron out for 9-10 games or so, lost Varejao after 26 games, and have a ton of recent new parts like Smith, Shumpert, and Mozgov not to mention the other challenges of a new coach etc.

Also compare that to the Bulls who have missed Rose, Noah, and Dunleavy for considerable amounts of time.

Warriors just pissed the game away. Steph Curry just pissed this game away.
