The Jimmy Haslam Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
New Orleans ownernership probably proves that wrong, no?

Forgot about that, and haven't set aside the time to look things up. Figured it was either that or another pair of sports.

I thought it was because Gilbert owns a gambling facility?

I thought that was a problem with the MLB not the NFL?

Regardless, Gilbert isn't gonna just buy every Cleveland sports team.

Even having an occasional 2002 or 2007 Browns season (why does everyone forget those when they say "TEH BROWNZ STYNK EVREE YEER!!11!!") is sufficient reason to not make that trade, at least when you consider there was no Indians title in that time frame.

You did, however, touch on the economics of more investment into the Indians when people didn't spend it on the Browns.

A guy just argued that the Browns don't stink every year, because they actually had 2 relatively decent seasons in the last 20 years.

That's when you know it's bad.

It's not been without it's memories.

If Haslam can settle out of court for what he's ultimately being sued for, he's still got a chance.

He's stated that they are cutting checks, with interest, every day.

He's also hired the best legal team on the planet. To defend him in America. Under provisions of the US legal system.

Odds are: he walks.

Reinsdorf and Colangelo have owned multiple teams. I believe the NFL has a rule that you can't own another team in another market; i.e. Gilbert could buy the Browns, but not the Lions.

And for the record, I highly doubt he buys the Browns.

Paul Allen, anyone? Guy is filthy rich.

He owns the Trailblazers and the Seahawks.

I don't think that Gilbert would fall on the NFL's list of prospective owners... He's spread pretty thin as it is; we don't want another Holmgren playing Czar...

You do realize that technically disproves "every year," right?

I was only counting since 1999, and should have included "since the return," since that's usually the quote that people use (or they start counting the record since 2008.) But if we count 20 years then it's really 3 seasons (1994,) not great but I'm going to appreciate it enough to not to play the "woe is me" game everyone else does.

That's not even really the point. We were talking about the Indians/Browns trade-off, which again I would not do because the Tribe never won a World Series in the time frame mentioned.

Your team was awful 95% of the time over the last 20 years. The years you say they were good they made the playoffs and laid an enormous egg, and the other year...they didn't even make the playoffs. Quit arguing semantics. There aren't a lot of pro sports franchises with that kind of track record of suckitude. For someone who is 23 going on 24 like myself, they might as well have been god awful my entire life. Wait, they pretty much have been. Props on adding the extra year (1994). I was 5.

For the record, I wouldn't make any of these retarded trade offs or whatever that lame discussion was, either.

Geez, I'm sorry. I felt that it made sense for me to make the original reply that I did to B Mac, and I had to reply to what you said, as well.

That's all I'll say on this topic.
