The Magic Number Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bulls lose!!!
Cavs magic number is now down to 4!!!:celb (4):

That Chicago game on the 5th would effectively be the clincher.

We are 3 up on Chicago with 7 to play. If we win tomorrow, that would put us 3.5 up with 6 to play.

A win over Chicago clinches the season tie breaker and gains us a game. That could put us up 4.5 with 5 to play, with the tie breaker.

Which team in the 7th seed are we supposed to be most concerned about at this point? It's getting pretty hard to keep track.

I don't expect the Cavs to make it look easy (they play to their opponent too often) but things drop off fast in the Eastern Conference.

I think it's still Indiana. Some will say Miami but Indiana just beats the hell out of you. In the interest of staying healthy, I'd prefer to avoid them.

Miami doesn't scare me as much as others. They're probably the most talented team in that slot but Wade is banged up (knee swelling) and they are the type of team that just packs it in when they get down. If we went up 2-0, they would probably just mail it in.

Plus, playing Miami gets us dialed in right away. No way in hell LeBron is coming out at even 80% effort if he faces the prospect of getting bounced by his former team.

Boston and Brooklyn are the most advantageous match ups for us but really only Boston has a shot at the #7 because of BK's brutal schedule.

I think Bron wants to play Miami round 1. With the Nets winning lately though, it might not happen.

No. 2 seed: Cleveland is in good shape for the No. 2 seed; their magic number for the Central Division and the second seed over Chicago is 5 following the Bulls' loss. The Bulls and Raptors are now three games back of the second seed. The Cavs' magic number to clinch home court in the first round is one.

Cavs have clinched home court for at least the first round.

Magic number for the second seed AND the Central Division title is down to 4.

They win on Sunday and it knocks down to 1 for the Division, right? 1 for the win, 1 for the Chicago loss, 1 for the tiebreaker?

So, the central division and the second seed could be clinched on Wednesday.

Man, who would've thought that when we started 19-20.
