The Other-Fan-Bases Rant thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
im a long time lurker.. i seen enough to understand how this board operates. people with low post counts get little to no respect. i seen a lot of posters come and go from being banned, so "new" posters have a very short leash with mods. and when a "new" poster gets no respect and they have short leashes with mods, it makes for quick bans, because the new guy might say something then all the "in" posters get mad and the new guy gets banned not for what he said, but how everybody reacted to what he said. which reminds me of this classic clip.

It really doesn't have anything to do with new posters being on short leash. It has to do with the poor grammar, the lack of capitalization, and the confrontational attitude. Just because someone provides a differing opinion of your opinion doesn't mean they are trying to attack you. This is not a bar where a bunch of drunk people are yelling over one another. This forum is supposed to be above that. From what I've seen, that's not happening here.

Ha, this convenient messages and likes stat is going to cause a lot of trolling.

My ratio is nearly 1:1 by the way ;)
With all the internet dick measuring going on in here, I must admit that my 1:10 post to like ratio clearly means I have the biggest penis on this forum. Also, Kevin Love officially in Cleveland! Fuck yeah!

thats where the favoritism comes into play. ive made it clear, very clear actually that im non confrontational; and that we are allowed to have differing opinions, and that it is your right to have a different opinion. you are preaching to the choir. you need to talk to your poster buddies about their attitude and attacks. you can go back and read my posts and theirs.

i see it all the time. i said im a long time lurker so i see things, everything, out a absolute non-bias lens.

"dick measuring"... "death stroke" ...

I'm a member of a ton of different forums and I highly disagree with you here. I'm struggling to recall a time where a veteran member talked down to a new guy without good cause.

I won't disagree that maybe some of the "July 2014ers" get less respect but that has less to do with them being new and more to do with many of them confessing to being bandwagoners.

I don't want to get in trouble here for discussing S34 stuff, but I have viewing privileges there so I can see how the mods and veteran members talk about "genpop." Basically, there are many posters who frequently stand up for newer members and try to make sure the veteran members don't become conceited.

At a time like this, when the Cavs are making huge move after huge move, it's inevitable that we will pick up a ton of "bandwagon fans," many of whom may not be the highest quality of posters. Knowing this, it becomes easy for some long time members to overlook some of the new guys. However, this problem will improve with time as we learn which of the new people are actual quality posters and which are just trolls.

I'm still relatively new here but I feel like I've been here long enough to get a general idea how the board operates and what the mods/posters are like. While it certainly isn't perfect, the quality of this forum is still far better than any other I've been apart of.
1- THIS forum. not other forums. i been a part of another forum, non sports related, that was great with new posters. they treated them like anybody else.

then i lurk this forum, and i see completely different treatment.... people always talking about, "post count". who are you, you are irrelevant, look at your "post count".... "why are people with *so many* posts allowed to do *such and such*".... the disrespect and arrogance and even narrow mindedness is ridiculous on here.

Nah dude, you get no respect when you make poor arguments. A single boxing match is highly volatile and far more susceptible to a "fluke" than is an entire season of NBA basketball. But you keep on with it and then play the "you only do this cause I'm new" card.
naw dude, you obviously dont understand anything i said. and you obviously think PAT RILEY IS A THOROUGH GM which is what this stems from, young pup. that guy couldnt tie chris grants shoe laces.

but go ahead and give him all the credit for 3 players scheming amongst themselves to go to miami like it was all rileys works.

forget the boxing analogy. you are so stuck on something irrelevant. this is about riley not being a good GM and all you wanna focus on is a boxing analogy THAT YOU DONT AGREE WITH. i see and understand it clearly. teams have fluke seasons. it happens.

From what I've seen, posts that don't butcher the English language - other than from our overseas members - tend to get less crap. A questionable take plus bad grammar/spelling is generally not going to go over well.

Just as an example, I'm not exactly sure what is even meant by saying Riley is a "thorough" GM. Is that supposed to mean the same thing as "competent", or something else?

whats a questionable take? a analogy that somebody doesnt like? or pat riley being a bad GM.

because neither of them call for a witch hunt.

Damn it, guys. Let's just keep hating on the Bulls

So I have moved from Hawaii to San Antonio (thanks USAF), and I wear my OSU,browns, and cavs gear everywhere. I was at best buy yesterday and a guy wearing a spurs 2014 NBA champs shirt starts chatting me up. I think at first he assumed I was a bandwagon fan, but after talking for a while and him realizing I'm a Cleveland all around fan, he said something interesting. He said as long as it's not beating us in the finals, I hope you guys win a title or more in the next few years. He said winning a title in Cleveland will be something most cities have no idea about. He said the pure joy of the fans would be something he'd enjoy to see. Said Cleveland deserves it more than anyone. Thought that was pretty cool.
