The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There's really only been two Far Cry games of this style, no? I don't get why people are already sick of it. Far Cry 1 is absolutely nothing like 3 and 4. I admit I never played 2 but I'm pretty sure similar.

Far Cry 2 was more similar to 3 and 4 than to the first game.

I'm currently playing Battlefield 4 on Origin Game-Time (Basically I have the game for a week) and the way they did this game is just awful. Unless I'm being an idiot, I see no way to switch servers in game, which means every time you want to switch servers you have to close down the game, go to the battlelog website, find a server, and then it reboots the game. On top of that, the game legitimately takes 5 minutes to load. I'm having a ton of fun in game however (as I did with BF3 on 360).

You must be one of the five people who played it.

In all seriousness, I thought FC4 was a fantastic game. Think I'll skip Primal though unless it's getting stellar word of mouth. I think the formula for the FC games is really fun, though. As long as there is enough difference in content/theme, I wouldn't mind seeing more FC games of a similar style.

Lmao fuck Origin, I quit playing BF because of that retarded setup/battlelog.

On PS4 when I had it, there was no way to lobby up with friends and then join a game..like you can do in every other modern FPS. And the devs straight up said they weren't gonna implement it. idk if they ever did but i traded that shit in after i saw that.

To be honest, I just generally hate matchmaking in console FPS games. That's probably because I grew up playing PC shooters like Quake, Unreal, and Team Fortress Classic where you got to do crazy things like choose your own server and what map you wanted to play, but I've always, always hated matchmaking since it came into existence. It wouldn't be so bad if games gave you the option of choosing a server instead of matchmaking, but it's generally the only option in so many modern shooters.

I like being able to load up Team Fortress 2 wanting to play, say, Dustbowl and knowing that I can fucking play it, not crossing my fingers and hoping the game's matchmaking deems to send me there instead of a map I hate.

I remember Destiny's godawful matchmaking. I swear there were three or four maps I got to play less than half a dozen times while the game sent me to the same two or three every other fucking time I loaded up.

I know your post wasn't specifically about matchmaking...just reminded me of how much I hate it. :chuckle:

As someone who grew up on consoles, that's a luxury i never really knew existed. If my buds and i had dedicated servers for CoD4..i dont wanna know how much MORE time i woulda put into that game lol

Honestly, I think matchmaking is the main reason I struggled to get into console shooters. I was always good at them, as they're generally just dumbed down versions of PC shooters that half aim for you. But I mostly play games for fun, and I don't want to sit around and be forced to play maps I hate constantly for the sake of some arbitrary level-up system. If I've only got an hour to sit down and play a game, I want to spend it playing on maps I enjoy the entire time and not being at the mercy of the matchmaking system.

In TF2, if the server changes to a map I don't like, I just leave and find a different server. It takes about a minute.

EA just announced the DLC Season Pass for Battlefront. Fifty dollars for the season pass.

Congrats, EA. You turned the game from a game I was going to buy to me saying fuck you in one simple announcement.

Anyone play Pillars of Eternity? Old school turn based RPG a la Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, etc.

I'm about 50 hours into it and it's got the nostalgia factor as well as adding some new components to the genre. Story is pretty good and the gameplay mechanics are fun like the classics. One thing I don't like is the lack of advancement in weapons. I feel like I'm halfway through the game and already have close to the best gear in the game. The old Baldur's Gate games had tons of new upgrades and I felt like I was constantly finding new and exciting loot. This in part makes it feel like your characters aren't really getting that much stronger as the game goes on.

Overall though if you are a fan of the old D&D franchise games you will definitely enjoy this game. Love the turn based/pause and assign commands type of game play.

FYI, first Witcher 3 expansion, Hearts of Stone, dropped today. Ten bucks for approximately ten hours of new story content.

Whatever it is you guys do, make sure not to get a communication ban. I received a 24 hour ban for one grown man to another cursing at each other over a Madden game, he must of reported me but they took my privileges for a day and since 9/22 I havent been able to talk in a party chat, its a huge issue in the post suspension community.

These XBLPETs could go fuck themselves.

Yeah, this is another reason I play PC games. The worst that can happen is getting your communication privileges revoked from a single server, and even then you generally really have to be an asshole for it to happen. I think I've gotten muted on one TF2 server, and I was spamming vulgar text binds that I use sometimes to amuse myself.

I think on Valve's official servers you can't even be muted. They can kick you, but it's only for an hour (I think) and just from that individual server. I know because I get kicked every now and then for being better than the other team, which they call hacking. :chuckle:

Honestly dude what is XBL without trolling verbally It will always exist, that's why there is a mute/block feature, the report feature should be there but should never be in effect towards a paying customer. 3 weeks without voice chat for me. I'm in the wrong because they have one message on me with one curse word, unbelievable.

I don't know if I should call and report a ongoing issue that's probably talked about everyday over the support phones

Just finished it, and i'd put the main quest more or less on par with the bloody baron questline in the original. Writing is incredible, as you would expect.
