This Australian Comic’s Take on America’s Absurd Gun Laws is Brilliant (Video)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I already thought it was illegal to purchase.

Just find it so funny how quick other countries are to judge us for "gun culture" and our "lax gun laws." They don't realize that there truly is no going back, even if we wanted to...which we don't.

South Dakota House Passes Constitutional Carry!

http://www.gunowners.org/state02182015a.htm

Under this bill, South Dakotans would no longer be required to get the government's permission to exercise their Second Amendment rights to carry a firearm to protect themselves and their families.

I do find it ironic, though, that the government is technically still giving their permission based on the constitution.

I've had my CCW for about 3 years now and have never regretted getting it. It was worth it just for the peace of mind.

Nothing like a gun control thread to bring out the crazy. Protect us from tyranny? Get a grip people, the government hasn't stopped itself from oppressing us all simply because citizens have guns.

Second Q your belief that a citizen should be able to buy the same weapons as the government is also nuts. Example tanks are made for war...why would citizens ever need these.

Finally, anyone against stricter background checks and a national registration of guns is just wrong. Flat. Out. Wrong.

Disclaimer, I'm not advocating for no private ownership of weapons, while I will never have a gun, I know this isn't a realistic view in our country..

Someone also made a comment about weapons prevent crimes hundreds of thousands of times in the U.S, statistics please.

I'm going to assume none of that post was directed at me because I didn't make any of those points.

Nevertheless, Americans should be able to have guns regardless of whether your comments are valid.

I also stated I know ending private ownership of guns is an unrealistic viewpoint to advocate but not allowing private citizens to own certain types of guns and having a more robust background check law are certainly reasonable.

Thank you, although this is higher than what I figured, this study is hardly positive proofv

It wasn't one study. As I pointed out, It was numerous studies, some with significantly higher numbers than the "hundreds of thousands" shorthand I used. But if you've got some evidence that the number is really much smaller, by all means, feel free to post it.

I agree. There is a distinction between weapons of war and firearms. There is also a distinction between our military and our civilian police force.

Slowly but surely, there is a militarization of our police force. No knock raids are becoming more prevelant, and the NYPD is pushing for urban tanks with .50 cals for protection against 'terrorists' [what a farce] 'and protestors' [the real target].

If you don't see the potential for martial law.... Well I don't know what to tell you.

And if you signed up for government permission to arm yourself, CCW or gun registration, they know about it and SWAT you even harder.

The Des Moines Register has the latest on that volatile police raid that I wrote about yesterday. The raid was apparently for suspected credit card fraud. Ankeny Police Department officials are now speaking out. But I’m not sure they’re helping their cause:

Ankeny police are defending the raid, saying they needed to use that approach to protect officers’ safety.

Ankeny police Capt. Makai Echer said officers knew at least one person in the house had a permit to carry a firearm. She said the department isn’t currently investigating how officers handled the search, nor does the department have a written policy for executing warrants.

So they see nothing wrong with how the raid was handled, and the department has no stated policy for executing warrants. All of that is troubling enough. (The lack of a written policy also suggests a lack of training.) As is the “officer safety” justification, as if that in itself trumps the rights of the people inside the house.

This is definitely concerning. Not to mention that the government has already given permission via the 2nd amendment - despite the fact I don't believe I should need the permission to do anything at all.

But am I supposed to risk the chance of "breaking the law" and its intended consequences instead of obtaining (in my case renewing) a license?

Of course, I'm sure several states have made millions of dollars and will continue to do so on those who obtain/renew their license.

Robbery suspect shot by concealed carry Pharmacist in West Virginia, Feb. 18th.

@Lee , this (dead) robber had his gun pulled first. I can't tell for certain since the video has no sound, but it appears he may have pulled the trigger as well and did not hit the pharmacist (to my knowledge). Statistics really only tell you what you want to get out of them....
