I know it's early but with college ball starting soon here is a look at some players that should be available towards the back of the draft (15th or later), barring great seasons, who could be worth watching as the season goes.

The Cavs have:

Their own 2015 1st (the Bulls have the rights to swap picks)

Grizzles 2015 (protected 1-5 and 15-30)

2nd from Sac (protected 31-55)

2nd from Philly (if it doesn't get conveyed to Boston. Protected 31-50 and 56-60 - odds are high Cavs aren't getting this pick)

2nd from Boston (protected 31-55)

Sorry Videos wouldn't embed for me

For the PF/C positions (PF's in the event it doesn't look like TT will re-sign with the Cavs)

Bobby Portis 6'11 - PF/C - SO - Arkansas:

Myles Turner - 6'11 - PF/C - Fr - Texas:

Dakari Johnson - 6'11 - C - SO - Kentucky:

Frank Kaminsky - 7'0 - C- SO - Wisconsin:

Mouhammadou Jaiteh - 6'11 - PF/C - International:

Ilimane Diop - 6'11 - PF/C - International:

Shawn Long - 6'10 - C/PF - JR - LA Lafayette:

A.J. Hammons - 7'0 - C - JR - Purdue

Moussa Diagne - 6'10 - PF/C - International (super raw, would be great 2nd round pick up for draft and stash)

Wing Players for back up SF or 3/D aspect

Sam Dekker - 6'9 - SF/PF - JR - Wisconsin:

Caris Levert - 6'7 - SG/SF - JR - Michigan:

Wayne Selden - 6'6 - SG/SF - SO - Kansas:

Georges Niang - 6'8 - SF/PF - JR - Iowa State:

Nedim Buza - 6'7 - SF/SG - International:

LeBryan Nash - 6'7 - SF - SR - OK State:

Now onto the PG's, it's obvious after the injury to Delly that they need a 3rd PG that can spell KI, knows how to run a team and play solid D.

Delon Wright - 6'5 - PG - SR - Utah:

Marcus Paige - 6'2 - PG - JR - North Carolina:

Andrew Harrison - 6'5 - PG/SG - SO - Kentucky:

Fred Vanvleet - 6'0 - PG - JR - Wichita State:

Keifer Sykes - 5'11 - PG - SR - WI Green Bay:

Cedi Osman - 6'6 - PG/SG - International:

Nenad Miljenovic - 6'4 - PG - International:

Memphis really a 8-1 team ? And how is that pick structured if it ends up protected next year?

Same protections next year as it is this year. Top-5 protected only in 2017-18. Unprotected in 2019.

But man, with all those second round picks we can easily trade up if we wanted to.

I'll bet money that Turner will be a top ten pick. No way the Cavs get him. Why not take a look at Ilimane Diop? :chuckle:
I do like Dez Wells as a possible second round pick though. Has the makings of a three and D player if he works on that jumper a bit more.

Sarcasm? Those 2nd round picks are protected in a way that it's very doubtful the Cavs see any of them.

As long as Memphis holds onto Gasol and Conley, that pick will never end up being a lotto pick. Deal it for a center or an athletic wing.

The top player on my board would be Cauley-Stein, but at this point I think it's unlikely were in a spot to obtain him. Someone id like would be Frank Kaminsky. Smart player (senior), can score, and is 7 foot big that can guard the paint. If he can have the same progression white diamonds had here than he can be a good bench big and could maybe even take over the center position once Andy is gone. I still have a lot of catching up to do on this year's draft class. Should be a good one.

Center? Yes deal it if you find a good center.

Athletic Wing? Might be better to use the MLE for that.

I'd hold the pick as long as we can. It wouldn't take a big slip for the pick to go into the lottery. If Memphis had lost two more games last year, the Cavs could have had the 14th pick in last year's draft.

It wouldn't surprise me if Turner shot up and he ended up being a top 8 pick but most early season stuff has Turner some where between 15-18.

This looks like a good year for PF's/C's imo (Towns, Jahil, Turner, Dakari, Stein, Kaminsky, Alexender, Portis, ect..) would be nice for the Griz to suffer a few injuries that cause them to just miss the playoffs

If we have at least one pick by the end of the year who do we pick

Do we get a big who has defensive potential or do we pick a defensive wing who can immediately contribute

Alec Poythress, the guy Chris Grant was jokingly going to take #1 overall like 2 years ago ( :chuckle: ) just tore his ACL. If he declares he may be an option.
