I have one source who messaged me after a blog post, works in sports journalism in New Orleans. He's definitely a legit enough source that I trust what he is saying; however, I do not take it as 100% true. The Pelicans may look to move Ryan Anderson by the trade deadline, according to sources of Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders.
With the salary cap set to spike next season, it could prove difficult for New Orleans to retain Anderson via free agency, so they may look to get what they can for him by moving him before the deadline.
However, New Orleans won't take on a bad deal solely to get Ryan off the books, so if they don't receive an offer that truly benefits the team, they may look to just stay the course and hope for the best during free agency.
Regardless, he keeps telling me the Pelicans want a combination of future assets, young talent, and money. They are willing to trade Anderson for two out of the three. Effectively, they are willing to trade Anderson if it makes them better next season. If it does not then they won't make the trade.
I 100% agree. Anderson is a great stretch four to pair with Anthony Davis, and New Orleans knows it. They also know if Eric Gordon could ever get consistently healthy, Anderson does a great job running the pick-and-pop with him.I was leading the Anderson cheering section a month ago, but then blurbs out of New Orleans began to sound like the price would be too high for the Cavaliers. Moving one of the Cavs core pieces for an offensively talented but limited defending PF doesn't add up. In truth, the system they run in New Orleans is perfect for Ryno. They need to dump bad contracts elsewhere on the roster.
LeBron without the brain. Trading for him would be a my god we need to do something, he's better than nothing move 3 seconds before the deadline.
The Bullshit Whisperer reports that LAC is looking to trade Josh Smith -- his defensive stats are still elite this year (albeit in limited action), and he's only 30. Thoughts?
Both have big fans amongst certain RCF posters, mostly hoping that they will bounce back after a trade.
At least Smith is affordable and low risk, but if he can't help Doc Rivers... how is he going to help us?
Morris and Smith are very different players.
Smith doesn't solve the numerous problems the Clippers have, nor would he solve all of ours. I think the point is that he'd come cheap, have no real salary impact, and can help us in the front court defensively.
I'm not sure anyone is thinking Smith would get many field goal attempts, so his percentages aren't really all that relevant. He'd essentially be a replacement for Kendrick Perkins.
And to be fair, Morris on the other hand, has tremendous upside, but comes with substantially more risk.
That Clippers small forward situation is such a fuck cluster. I feel like Paul Pierce has taken the lead, I'm guessing because he doesn't make dumb mistakes and he might have a few big shots left in his system. The rest of that hodge podge is tough to track.
I like Wes Johnson and Prince Luc a lot more than Josh Smith, but who knows how this thing shapes up by the deadline. As a backup plan, I'm not against it.
Yeah LeBron without the brain. By that I mean athletically gifted, but nothing else what so ever.Doesn't have to be the only move you make, he's making vet min right now, might get him for a 2nd, or for cunningham, or for nothing at all (heavily protected second).
He would match up well as a small ball center, an alternative to thompson who is a better shooter.
Also, you say Lebron without the brain like it's a bad thing? About 80% of the league would sell their soul to be a less intelligent lebron.
