Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
in the regular season 24% of his shots were from 3-10 feet. He didnt take trthe shot because it wasnt his role to. Cavs much prefered Thompson reset the offense.
your stats show the story less than 2 shots a game from outside 3 feet.

However once the playoffs began and Cavs were beset by injuries. sso did Tristans shot distribution as the 24% went up to39,5 percent and his FG% went from 34.7 percent to 41 percent. as far as outside of 10 feet. not even enough attempts for his percentages to matter or be measurable.

but yeah lets use his regular season metrics to measure his playoff performance. makes perfect sense.

Once again Thompson is 24. He development and progression as well as energy has been constantly compared to AV. Thats how he is being gromed. A more Athletic Andy. One that can defend the pick and roll.

potential is a factor here no matter how much some would like to dismiss it.

A more athletic, shorter, smaller, less coordinated Andy.

Assuming KI4MVP is correct, January 10 is a big day, because a contract signed after that date can be pro-rated, which means the Cavs can penalize TT for missing games this season but still keep the salary proposal for future seasons in place. It gives the Cavs more leverage.

You're not paying his potential a max deal. He's not a foundational player for any franchise.

This entire ordeal is becoming strange. If Andy stays healthy, with LBJ, Love, Moz and Sasha, they Cavs can play without him. They obviously would rather have him, evidenced by the 5/80 offer for a rotational big man, but a MaX deal??

I'm sorry, he is a double double guy, but his offense will never be higher than slightly below average. His defense is good and rebounding is excellent. He can't protect the rim.

There's is simply no scenario where is current or potential reach a max deal.

It's also worth noting that there is NO public outcry for him; but rather people are beginning to say "fuck this guy".

Dan would pay him, but no way is it a max deal.

At this stage, there should be more panic in TT's camp than Cavs. Griff and Dan don't look like they will flinch. That is why we have been seeing these articles about TT accepting a three year contract and LeBron coming out and saying to get this deal done. Its pretty evident Rich Paul is panicking now and hoping, Griff and Dan end up flinching before the season starts. Because if the situation isn't sorted by then, TT has no way of coming back from this.

I thought i made it clear that I am not talking about a max deal nor do i care about a max deal and i believe that the max deal is posturing.

The thing that's puzzling to me is that you can agree that he's not a max player but somehow your logic and number crunching lead you to believe that 5 y /87 m is totally reasonable. I mean that's just a mil or so less per year than the max.

That said, it would take some sort of earth shattering analytical breakthrough at this point to probably sway anyone one way or another on TT's worth. After all these months of analysis, debate and venting, I think we've all more or less entrenched ourselves on our positions.

TT is basically just extremely lucky, along with the fact that he (via encouragement from his agent)will stop at nothing to fully capitalize on the luck laid out before him. A kinder, gentler TT would have signed a 5 y, 72.5 mil deal (1.5 mil more per year than the deal he rejected a year ago) on the first day of free agency and counted his blessings.

The only reason I'm so bent out of shape over this contract is that I truly believe it will impact our future ability to re-sign (or sign) key players. For the (seemingly) majority of you who don't believe TT's contract has any effect on future contracts, I do sort of wonder why you even care what TT gets.

As a business proposition paying TT a ton of money makes no sense because his presence won't add any money to revenues except possibly to extend the playoffs. Any extra paid to him is dead loss financially to Gilbert and any other shareholder. TT won't put one more ass in the Q or in front of a TV.

The only reason to pay him is that he slightly improves our chances for a title. Slightly. In fact if everyone is healthy he could be a DNP-CD and we could probably fill the minutes with Andy, Moz, Love, Kaun and a bit of #23. I'm not saying he'd get zero minutes but whatever he did get wouldn't be that much.

But if we lose two of our prime bigs - like we did last year - we will need TT. A lot.

Risk for TT and friends is that the Cavs decide the insurance policy is too expensive, buy a cheaper policy, leave more room for future salary caps and tell Paul to go see what the Sixers or Trail Blazers will pay him - or anyone else next summer for a guy who played a big role in the 2014 due to very unusual circumstances. If that happens I'm not sure anyone out there pays him $80MM much less $94MM.

I don't understand their thinking. You've got $80MM in the bag. Why risk so much for a shot to maybe get $14MM more? No guarantee that $80MM will be there tomorrow - shit happens, just ask Jason Pierre-Paul.

I strongly suspect the Cavs are willing to wait a very long time on this. In fact I'll bet their best and final offer is done and the only thing that will move them are major injuries to bigs.

I haven't said this for a few days. Sorry for slacking guys.

Fuck Tristan Thompson.
TT is not so bad. This is just a contract dispute. It's all fair although imho TT is taking a foolish risk.

It's not like he backstabbed a blind man.

Fuck Carlos Boozer.

Another thing hurting TT is the fact that Andy and Kaun don't look like total shit. Andy looks like he could honestly take mins from TT and Kaun looks like a guy who you don't mind filling in a couple games.

We all know we want to save Andy by limiting minutes but if he comes out in shape and healthy and playing well I guaruntee he'll play his 25 to 30. It's hard for coaches to take good players off the court or not play them when they are healthy.

i think the cavs need to start putting some shit in the media to get TT's side sweating

rich paul has been using the media this entire time. haynes and windy are repeating him verbatim. you had the story TT wanted more because of draymond. TT wont except one penny less than max. TT is leaving if he signs QO. Rich Paul has 4 teams ready to max TT next year. TT is going to get a max from the Raptors. TT will sign a 3yr max to compromise with the cavs.

its all Rich Paul.

I dont know who the cavs use for their voice anymore. Maybe dust off The Bullshit Whisperer and get him going?? Here is the story: Cavs are afraid Tristan will sit out all season, they are making calls about the availability of certain backup PFs. They are offering trade exception and dangling a 2014 first round pick.

A story like that might make Tristan scared. Even if Termine and Paul keep talking tough, Tristan might call his agents and get them back to the table with the cavs.

Windy made it sound like they really arent even talking to each other.

We need that big idiot back here ASAP. Not because I think he's needed to win games but we need his minutes so guys like lebron, love and andy arent asked to play too much.

Dangling a 2014 First round pick?
