Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Good points. Makes me wonder what happens if the Cavs are able to acquire a starting caliber center (especially one who can shore up the defense a little). Would that center just come off the bench? If not then who amongst the starters gets dropped to the bench? JR seems like a candidate but I’m not sure Crowder is enough of a threat at the two. Crowder would be the other candidate but that would lead to LeBron having to guard Durant to start games in the Finals. I really don’t know what the solution is.

With IT back, suprised if JR doesn't go the bench in this scenario. Maybe just a confidence thing but Crowder just looks like a better player with IT in there

That cut he made with IT hitting him was great. His only field goal make of the night.

What's wrong with TT
He was supposed to be our defensive workhorse, rebounding machine

He was never that great defensively. His switching ability was greatly exaggerated and he’s too small to alter shots. His game revolved around offensive rebounding. And when he’s not doing that he’s useless.

I really wonder if there are any teams out there that will look at him and say "this is a guy we can turn back into an offensive rebounding force." He had a couple positive attributes that really worked for him: o rebounding, being able to move laterally for switching purposes, blocking the occasional shot, and good hands for lobs at the rim. In virtually every other way, he was a mediocre basketball player. Now, most of the positives have massively eroded. Who's going to want him, even if his salary was half what it currently is?

Like myself and other posters were saying, it’s all about fit with TT. If he’s paired with the right lineup, he can definitely resemble the same guy he was for us in 2015-2016.

He probably won’t ever be as good ever again because of his nagging injuries, but he can approximate it.

Found this gem from the Mavs forum. They seem to have no problem trading for Tristan, in-fact they sound as if they want him.

"I want to take on Thompson's deal. I've posted that before, but he's a good player who needs a change of environment and Cleveland has to want to get out of his contract if he's only playing 17 mpg considering how many boatloads of luxury tax they're paying on his salary."

Well... TT + Clev 2nd for Matthews + Mejri???

Too bad that's a Mavs forum and not the Mavs front office.
