Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Are you Bill Simmons? Are you going to post this in every thread on the board? Simmons is a buffoon and I couldn't care less what he thinks the implications of anything are.

Saw it today and thought it was interesting, not everyone checks every thread. Sorry if I offended.

I liked your post. Thanks for pointing out the specific time at which they talked about the Cavs.

Turning point of the game.

Man, if Tristan could only get that jumper down, then he could be an absolute terror. The guy is like a more athletic Andy.

Only negative thing I can say about his game tonight was how he let Amar'e get his first blocked shot since 2009

Tristan has the 98th usage rate in the Eastern Conference ......behind Anthony Bennett.

Crazy right?

The spinning down the lane into a lefty hook from the block in the third quarter tonight was BEAUTIFUL. Upon seeing it you realize how far this dude has come in terms of skills.

Tristan has got to start taking a page out of David West and taking the top of the key jumper. He gets left wide open out there. He can knock them down. The offense would open up a lot more. He doesn't have to live off offensive rebounds.

Tristan is really learning how to play next to Bynum (and possibly some post moves from him). I think Bynum also appreciates how hard TT works on the floor so he doesn't have to do much of the dirty work. If he can develop a consistent 15 foot jumper and a few more counter post moves, he could really have a total offensive package as an 18/10 guy.

I think part of the reason Bynum is praising Tristan for doing the dirty work is because that's what Bynum's job was for the Lakers during their championship years. He was the 3rd man after Kobe and Pau. Grabbing boards and scoring off the ball was his role. So he identifies with what Tristan is going through. It's not always a fun job, but it's very important for the team's success.

I don't think you, or a lot of others, realize how far away Tristan is from actually being a good offensive player. He's put in a ton of work, and made a lot of improvements just to get where he is now, but he still has a ways to go to be a good offensive player.

He's averaging 11.5 points with a sub-50 TS%, that's putrid for a big man. I'd much rather see him increase his efficiency to a respectable level while scoring about the same that he is now.

He is also averaging 14.4/13.6 on 50% shooting over his last 5 games. I agree that Tristan is a work in progress, but I would put an emphasis on progress.
