Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Way more upset about Waiters getting shipped out.

I truly believe that if we get Tristan out of the rotation (after an adjustment period of course) we will start to see some improved play from the team. Andy would go back to his monstrous rebounding ways instead of he and Tristan just sharing the load, Bennett and Clark would get all the PF minutes for the time being, and the spacing would be superb at all times. I am NOT saying Clark is a better player than Tristan. I am saying that the team would collectively play better with a shooting PF on the floor at all times instead of a lane killer like Tristan.

I'm someone who isn't impressed by Tristan's SINGLE elite skill: offensive rebounding...he seems to get most of them because he is disregarded by the guy defending him, which means he doesn't have a body on him after missed shots by the Cavs. Leads to easier offensive rebounds. So is this really a good thing? We're sacrificing spacing and fit on the floor for a few extra offensive rebounds to provide extra possessions to our broken/nonspaced offense. Meh.

But at the end of the day Tristan probably won't be moved because he's such a boy scout and also the LeBron connection. And that upsets me.

And because he's the best power forward on the team. That probably has something to do with it.

That says more about the quality of our PFs rather than the talents of TT.

TT breaks out of his mini-slump with a 17-8 and people still want to bench him.

He had a couple nice dunks, not including the oop he threw down from Kyrie. He hit 7 of his 8 free throws, a crazy high amount for how few plays are ran for him. He even hit a 15 footer last night!

But let's all complain about how often he gets his shot blocked instead of giving him any credit. This is Cleveland after all.

He gets his shot blocked because he goes right into the contact. That was something that worked better when he was seen as a really good player in college. As he progresses and learns the league and how to attack better he will get more calls. Some are clean blocks, some are "advantage vet" calls. Same with Dion. As they mature they will both be drawing fouls at a high rate and getting other players in foul trouble. One of the reasons the Cavs actually said they drafted both of these guys.

Tristan needs to keep the ball high and go up, I think it is a weakness of his, but many players figure that out as they mature.

His 17 points are mostly because he has no offensive potential. He even hit a 17 footer last night.

He's gonna have games like this every handful of games? You show them TT!

Your clear bias and sarcasm aside, Tristan has probably been our most consistent player this year out of our young core.

If what you're saying is true, clearly you have very low expectations from the PF position. Let me ask you this, if you had to choose between Bennett and TT for the future, who would you pick? Cause neither can play heavy minutes at center effectively and there's only 1 starting PF spot.

Bennett has more long-term offensive potential, clearly...if that's what you're asking.
But that's what many are banking on Bennett...his potential. There's no guarantee he ever reaches that potential, and the team depending on that could even be considered a substantial risk.

I don't think it's a stretch to think that even though Bennett has far more natural talent, Tristan will be the more consistent player over the course of his career.

in last nights game, Bennet was much better at showing on the pick than Tristan. He made it look pretty easy to seal off the offensive player without putting himself in a position to foul.

You still never answer my question. There's only 1 starting PF spot on the team. It's obvious neither can start at C or SF. Moving forward, who do you pick as the team's future starting PF? I'd rather take the rookie with natural offensive abilities than a consistent, average-at-best, PF who's not even a defensive presence.

IMO Bennett is going to play a lot of small forward moving forward. Especially if Lebron doesn't come back.

Bad move. Bad bad move.
Bennett will be nothing more than average (at best) playing SF.
He could potentially be dominant playing PF.

I would sooner play Tristan at center before playing Bennett at small forward again.

I thought we had already killed this narrative, Bennett is a PF.
