:chuckles:

I think Bennett should project to be MUCH better than that, but I laughed in real life.

Like one of those, co-worker walk by my office and I point at screen as if to say... if you had read what Jig just called AB, you would have laughed like a geek too, kinds of laughs.

What about Water Garbage?

Water Garbage didn't do enough to differentiate himself from Flotsam Jetsam and Oil Slick at the draft combine. Are we sure he's the way to go?

So we've got a starting lineup of the following ceilings for 14-15:

PG- A bigger, better shooting Isiah Thomas (Kyrie's ceiling is at least as high as Isiah Thomas if not higher. I think his ceiling is now underrated on this board due to Kyrie not taking the leap this season we expected him to take.)
SG- The Ben Gordon of an alternate universe who didn't roll over after signing his first big contract and continued to go hard.
SF- Water Garbage (I'll give you that with who is on our current roster who is likely to be here next season, but we'll trade for, draft, or sign someone I'm sure who is decent, I'm sure.)
PF- Post-injury Larry Johnson's game with pre-injury Larry Johnson's athleticism
C- Dale Davis clone (until TT develops a jump shot, this will be pretty spot on)

I think that's a little more accurate as to their actual ceilings. I think you were furthest off about Bennett (although I hope you were joking :chuckles:). Considering his offensive skill set along with his freakish athleticism and stupid, stupid strength levels, he could be an all-star for sure. If and when he gets over his rookie jitters, we'll start seeing a completely different player from Bennett. Reported today, Bennett was seen working on a post game. If he can add that to his game, I'd erase the post-Larry Johnson's game and just say that his ceiling would be pre-injury Larry Johnson.

I'm ready to trade Tristan, but I wouldn't be surprised if he broke past the Dale Davis ceiling by developing a jump shot. In a way, Tristan also had a down year, and his shooting stroke is looking better as is evidenced by his free throw percentage. If he were to add the mid-range jumper, this could actually make his awkward drives more effective (although they'd still look awkward).

I admire your optimism, I really do...

But Tristan is so awkward he even BLINKS awkwardly

Not saying I dont love him and what he offers, just saying... Im not looking forward to his cap hold while blinking, breathing and doing everything awkwardly on the basketball court and eating up space better used for a floor spacing big man

The main reason why he needs to be gone is because we have a guy who is going to be able to do everything Tristan does and a lot more, and that guy is Bennett. Not only does Bennett have a much higher ceiling, but his rookie contract is two years behind where Tristan's is.

What I was getting at earlier is that, due to the unique circumstances of having switched hands and him having much better success with his right hand than his left, I think he needs to be given more time to fairly evaluate his ceiling. The way I feel about this is similar to how I feel about Joel Embiid, who has only been playing basketball for a few years. Because of his relative lack of experience compared to his peers despite outperforming them, I see his ceiling as a superstar. I'm betting that Tristan does eventually add the jumper (albeit not a great one), but I'm still willing to trade him regardless of whether or not he adds one. This team will be valuing floor spacing as much as any team in the NBA for years to come due to the players we have established at the PG and SG positions. Tristan cannot be a part of that system lest we destroy any chance of winning a championship. Bennett would fit perfectly.

He will never accept coming off the bench. I swear he's better coming off the bench but his Philly roots and his draft position will always make it hard for him to accept the bench role.

His best stretch of basketball of his two year career was at the end of this season when he was starting every game and getting consistent minutes. Did people already forget about that?

This is an odd statement. Joel Embiid, in addition to being a far better prospect athletically than Tristan ever was, is already far more skilled. He also has a fluidity that Tristan does not have.

I kind of see where you're going, but it feels forced and out of place.

The biggest number in relation to Tristan is how much he will have to be paid. I just do not want to invest big long term money in him. I think he is and will continue to be an average PF with limitations in his game who can be replaced by someone who can be paid far less. I just think his rebound numbers are slightly inflated from being handed big minutes on a bad poor shooting team.

The other issue that is already being mentioned is that the Cavs also have another young PF in Bennett who should now be getting bigger minutes and looks to have a more well rounded game and will be ready to step in. Cavs could sign a PF like Ed Davis, who has strangely disappeared and isn't getting minutes in Memphis, to pair with Bennett for far less than it would cost for Tristan and have a longer PF who should form an effective combo at the position.

This gets said all the time and I never really understand why considering he just spent almost this entire season on the bench. He's spent 45% of his NBA career coming off the bench. How can we say he will never accept it when he has been accepting it for two years?
