Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
His mins wont be down much at all. He's the most durable big we have, Blatt and LBJ love him, he's great in small ball lineups, and he's great next to both Love and Moz.

His value will continue to increase as he continues to benefit from LBJ's spotlight. And just as we saw overpays based on an increase cap this year, they will be just as big if not bigger next year.

You're wrong, TT has plenty of leverage.

Although you're completely right, Tristan will always have leverage so long as he and Lebron are represented by Klutch Sports. For Tristan, all he needs is Lebron in his camp and he has all the leverage in the world

And how do you propose to replace him if he walks?
I'm thinking this is part of the reason we went the TPE route. That TPE gives us some hope of replacing either Tristan or Mozgov if we choose not to re-sign both.

If Tristan takes the qualifying offer, does that give him a no trade clause?

Tristan will always have leverage because he's a good player and a great fit for this team, the Cavs not having the assets to replace him doesn't help either. the best assets we'll have next year are a large TPE and some late first rounders, that won't land us a player of TT's caliber.

You'd just be looking at a major downgrade though. Splitter has been the best player salary dumped in awhile, and I would prefer either of our guys over him.

So.. he has to sign some offer from someone till tomorrow, otherwise he'll be without a job. Correct?

There is really no hurry on our side. This year we have the leverage, next year we do not. If I am the front office I am trying to get him on a fair deal, not trying to overpay or rip him off.

I think TT's "LeBron" leverage is limited. Essentially, LBJ will be furious if TT walks because the Cavs are unwilling to match the best offer from another team. But I don't think LBJ would/could credibly demand that the Cavs bid against themselves either this off season or next. Just match (or beat slightly) whatever offer TT ends up getting from someone else.

Could the Cavs try and trade Thompson rather than inking a deal? If we don't trade him or sign him long term then we risk losing him next year and not getting anything in return for him? (other than a 1 year rental at the QO price)

If he takes the qualifying offer then he could refuse any trade? I don't see why he would want to grant a trade when we have such a good shot at a championship this year.

Signing a QO is effectively signing a 1 year deal with a no-trade clause. The Cavs can trade Tristan, but would have to get Tristan's permission because he would have to waive his Bird rights.

Tristan won't be traded, so none of this matters.

Well judging from your avatar, at least we know your opinion isn't biased.
im sorry but thus kevin love dude is straight garbage. it was a historically bad trade for us to give up the future of the league for some sieve who stands in a corner on offense. he's just a mike miller with more playing time.

if him and MM had played the same minutes, they would put up the same number of points last season.

It never takes much prodding to get a true troll to show their hand.

This guy is one of three things:
a: a parody account
b: a troll in its purest form
c: or just someone who is comically bad at watching, understanding, and interpreting the game of basketball

I think it is a troll born in 1998. Worst combination, dumbass 16/17 year old troll...one of those rare 16/17 year olds, too, who doesn't like chasing after pussy, so here he is.
