Truth And Rumors (trade deadline talk)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So on the Oden topic. Can we gain anything by using our cap space this year to sign him. Most teams can only offer min but we can pay this year and next and hopefully in return get a team optionat fair price for the following year.

The Cavs have the only known offer on the table. It is exactly as you described, with the rest of this year, next year, and a team option for 2014. Whether he accepts it or not has a lot to do with other teams' level of interest.

I wonder if Derrick Rose's brother thinks we did enough to improve ourselves...?

Kyrie's little sister will probably do some complaining if we don't sign a max free agent this summer.

So was it true the Lakers tried to get Boobie for a second round pick but Grant refused?

Lakers would have had to send matching salary. A 2nd round pick wouldn't have been enough if that was the rumor. They also don't have a 2nd round pick to trade until 2016.

I don't have insider info, but what I've been able to glean is that Grant had offers which would have moved player to get additional picks, but the available deals all involved weak picks and had the Cavs eating at least a year of a bad contract. Grant thought the team was better off keeping the extra cap space for this summer when he might be able to swing a deal for a better asset.

That's what I gathered too when nothing went down. Expiring contracts for Walton and Casspi mean nothing as we have same space in summer to eat a one year contract. Just can't believe Chicago held onto Hamilton at expense of one extra year of repeat offender status. Yet, Boston, LA, Miami didn't care about spending extra tax dollars. So no one in rush until they need to save to sign FA in summer.
