Tyson Chandler to exercise ETO?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
When the current centers on our team are Shaquille O'Neal and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, both of whom are on their last legs, you have to keep an open mind to something like this.

I'm not a big fan of Tyson Chandler at all. I agree with the sentiment of the majority here against him (injuries, was spoonfed by CP3, etc). But, if he's available for the MLE, and is willing to commit to this team, you have to take a serious look at him if not for the pure reason of just having someone to serve as a stopgap. I'd rather have Jermaine O'Neal than Tyson Chandler, but just for the sake of need, you cannot completely shoot him down.

Imagine trading for bosh and then signing Haywood with the mle... jizz.

Well yes, we should take a look at him. But like you said, there are better options so he should be explored as a last resort. If other options don't pan out, which is certainly possible, then I wouldn't mind looking into him. I'd rather do that than use the MLE on a damn guard.

But I don't think he will opt out. He may think it's the better idea (it's obviously not), but I'm pretty sure his agent will bring him back to reality.

First, in your scenario for him going there, they're dumping Stephen Jackson, not keeping Thomas..and wouldn't be able to keep Felton either.

Their line-up around him would include Gerald Wallace, Boris Diaw, Desagna Diop, Nazr Mohammed, and D.J. Augustin.

Terrible cast. Terrible place to play....he doesn't even like Larry Brown...

No idea how that would even be considered a real contender for him to go to. It makes literally no sense.

I said one way they could do that was to ship out Jackson or Wallace, and the reason I said so was because they are easily the most tradeable. The Bobcats could also get below the cap and dealing Diaw as well, or Nazr Mohammed a very tradeable expiring who is still very serviceable in the post and played well last year.

As for Felton, he's a gigantic waste of money and Charlotte needs to let him hit the free agent market anyway. He's garbage. One of the league's most overrated players. Jameer Nelson destroyed him in the Playoffs and Felton was exposed as a fraud even more in that series. With merely average PG play the Bobcats may have made that a series.

I didn't say it would happen, but it means that Charlotte is at least in the conversation if they want to be. I don't think you can count them out, and as for Larry Brown, who knows where he is coaching next year. If Jordan had to choose between keeping Brown or firing him to sign LeBron, which way do you think he's going?

If a defense first guy like Chandler has trouble getting on the floor with Larry Brown as his coach then something is wrong, in terms of attitude, talent, or health.

That being said, he need to get with whatever doctors resuscitated Marcus Cambys career.

Also Jermaine O'Neal is godawful and I continue to be disappointed that people keep bringing his name up. Just look at him in the Boston series, he was hurting Miami more than any Boston player was. And if an old hurt guy like him can't do ok against Boston, who is he going to be effective against in the postseason?

He's 31, wants a multiyear deal, and has missed at least 30 games 5 of the past 7 years. He may be the best FA post defender available, but if he's not on the court, it doesn't do you much good. Though I'm not sure Chandler is appreciably better or worse.

Never underestimate the ability of a 7-footer to get paid and the willingness of a GM to overpay once the top free agents are gone. Darko got $7 million per his last deal.

Bobcats center Tyson Chandler will not exercise his ETO a source close to Chandler tells me. Link coming soon ...
