I know the Browns arent in the market for drafting a WR, but i wonder how this shakes things up for you guys to maybe land Russell.

Southern California wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett has selected an agent and will announce that he is entering the NFL draft at a 2 p.m. news conference at the school's Heritage Hall on Wednesday, two sources close to the situation said Tuesday night.

The junior, a two-time All-American, had 70 catches for 1,015 yards and led the Trojans with 12 touchdowns this season.

The 6-foot-5, 210 pound receiver with a track record of acrobatic catches, is considered a first-round prospect.

When Jarrett arrived in Southern California from Brunswick, N.J., he was homesick and nearly transferred. But following in the footsteps of great Trojans receivers like Keyshawn Johnson and Mike Williams, he became an All-America receiver who will leave USC as the Pac 10's all time leader in touchdown catches.

One question Jarrett will have to answer before the draft is about his durability. Jarrett did miss time with nagging shoulder and quadricep injuries this season.

But he displayed all his considerable skill in what could be his last collegiate game. In the Trojans' 32-18 win over Michigan in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, Jarrett caught 11 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns.

After the game he hadn't made up his mind about turning pro.

"That's the question everybody's asking me," he said. "I don't know yet."

A week later his coach, Pete Carroll, looked at his professional options, speaking with Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga about their vacant position. Carroll said on Tuesday that he was staying put. His star receiver, on the other hand, appears ready to make the leap to the NFL.

I don't think I've seen a draft where every Jr that could go in the top 15 is declaring..good stuff..

Hopefully the Raiders go Calvin Johnson Quinn to Detroit and we land JaMarcus and load up on o-line and d-line via draft and free agency. This guy could be the franchise...his size and accuracy are deadly.

Why in hell would you want Russel? You want this team to win right????

Yeah and drafting a lineman to put with our scrubs is going to make him help out is really going to help the team...we need to sign a veteran like Steinbach or something..

Russell is a rare talent...arm strength mobility height size..he's the prototypical QB with much more..and Frye is sure as hell not our QB..

We aren't going anywhere anytime soon anyway why not sit the gem we have at QB for a year and clog the other holes..o-line d-line corner depth and some more solid vets..

Prototypical QB? Not even close....this guy is so far from being ready to play it's unreal.

He is a dumb QB, makes bad decisions a lot in the college game, what is he going to do in the NFL??

He had one ok year and one good, above average year in college football and he is supposed to be the next big thing? Give me a break..

17 INTs the last two years, he isn't exactly Mr Accurate.

People are getting excited because he is 6'6'' and has a big arm...big deal..

The Browns would be going in the entirely wrong direction by drafting this guy. It would be flat out stupid.

Who would you draft at 3 then?

A Mac is all about Troy Smith CTD.. we all know that :chuckles:

I like Thomas/Branch.. Because that is simply where we need the most help in.

Obviously I want OL, but I dont think Thomas is the man for the job according to a lot of what Ive been hearing.

Also, Branch may not fit our DT scheme...

So, the best option to me is trading down if we get the third pick...there is still a coin flip for it I beleive. I dont think the Lions or the Raiders trade down. Raiders are taking one of the two QBs for sure and the Lions have to do something to make their fans happy.

Hopefully somebody is intrigued by what is left on the board and we can move down.

Yes there is still the coin flip to determine 3rd or 4th:

Browns, Bucs will flip for 3rd pick

The Browns and Tampa Bay will flip a coin to determine the owner of the third overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.
The Browns and Bucs had identical 4-12 records, and their opponents had identical winning percentages, leaving the coin flip as the remaining tiebreaker.
The coin flip is expected to take place at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.

I don't really know what to think about the draft. The problem is the Browns have so many holes to plug every year. They really can't afford to miss on any of their picks in the earlier rounds. But I'm still leaning toward the O-line, even if we need to draft down and stockpile more picks.

The coin flip is stupid. Tampa Bay beat us. We should get the higher draft pick.

Amazingly, the tiebreaker for the Bucs strength of schedule came down to the Packers vs. Bears in Week 17. Since the Bears had nothing to play for, they didn't try and the Packers won. And since the Bucs played the Packers twice it boosted their strength of schedule because of that win. Nice rule NFL.

Hopefully we get the 3rd because there is a LOT of interest in Calvin Johnson..people are saying that if we are sitting at 3 and he's there that we may need 5+ phones to field all the calls..the only teams I know are interested are Tampa and Minnesota..but according to league insiders there are many more..

in one sentance i can say that all the browns strongly need is an O line

Joe Thomas from WISC has to be our first pick if he is available. No question.

There is question, he isnt a true OL, so there is a lot to consider with him.
