Then there's Wade, who is undoubtedly the star of stars, shining brightest in a city where the lights seemingly overshadow all else. He's everywhere in Vegas. On billboards. At the Jam session, where you could walk into a makeshift model of his head and see all he has done in his short career. On buses. Dropping a new shoe. Throwing parties. Las Vegas has done everything but design new slot machines around him.

Pay attention. Who got the most face time on All-Star Saturday night? Who was asked his opinion regarding the dunk contest barely halfway through? It wasn't King James.

Wade was announced after the veteran Bryant during the Skills Challenge, and had more closeups in this city than Wayne Newton has ever enjoyed. It's hard not to see that he's the new face of the NBA. The Miami Heat are the new-school Lakers, with Wade taking over Magic Johnson's role, an aging O'Neal playing Kareem, and Pat Riley as himself, 20 years later.

LeBron half assed the Skills Comp so it's no surprise no one zoomed in..

Although that is a long article, it does indeed express what I've thought for awhile now... Wade is the best player in the NBA...

I dont agree with the Heat being the new aged Lakers..

This maybe the last year they are able to be a contender.

The Heat have a slew of parts that fit last year and are no longer turning gears (Williams,Payton,Walker,Posey)

The only for sure guys they have are Wade Shaq and Mourning...and only when Shaq is healthy..

Wade has sort of become the Peyton Manning of the NBA, his commercials are getting tons of air-time, T-Mobile, Gatorade, Converse...he has deffinitly become more visable then LeBron, Kobe, Melo.

I'll still take Kobe over Wade.

He's very marketable because he has no tats, no earrings, etc.... parents everywhere rejoice. They'd rather see their kid trying to be DWade than say Allen Iverson. I see Dwight Howard enjoying the same thing soon... this all star appearance will help.

Dwight Howard will get very big because he is a big guy with talent. Bigs will always get more respect besides when they are in the dunk contest.

No, big men are so hard to market. He will have an oppurtunity too, but big men never market as well as guards.

James will have to earn his turn at the marketing machine. However, Wade is not the best player in the NBA (talking about the basketball part) When Shaq was out Miami struggled. He pulls at least as much weight as Wade does. Lebron on the other hand is the main man with us.

It doesnt matter about if your the best player in the game, it matters if your the most visably appealing to EVERYONE. and guess what, not everyone wants to see a tattooed up looking gangster on there tv. players without tats are more marketable then players with them, and LBJ is getting up there in the ink game.

and its no mistake that you see 2 rappers on tons of commercials these days, and they are 2 of the only ones without tats, T.I. and Jay-Z.

Market wise? Then guards are better off. I'm just saying in the game good bigs will get a better contract then a guard. Just because it's a lot harder to find a good 7 foot player then a 6 6.
