Chris Webber, still hampered by the aftermath of microfracture knee surgery at 33, is due more than $42 million over the next two seasons -- a perfect fit for the Knicks' seemingly infinite budget.

The five-time All-Star could also fit the win-or-else mandate president/coach Isiah Thomas faces this season, but initial discussions haven't produced a fit to send Webber to New York.

Still, the 76ers have approached the Knicks (and anyone else willing to listen) about Webber, league sources say, but weren't offered enough to make the kind of deal they've sought to shake up things this summer after several Allen Iverson scenarios fell through.

The package offered by Thomas, who is on vacation this week and could not be reached Tuesday, starts with Quentin Richardson (with his back issues and $33.8 million over four seasons left on his contract) and Maurice Taylor (whose $9.75 million contract expires after this season).

LOL

They might have the worst defensive PF-C combo in the league..

Then they have Francis and Marbury in the backcourt...

Makes a lot of sense with Frye on the roster wtf is he thinking..

What goes through Isiah's head? Honestly man. He's one of the dumbest people on the planet.

Webbers contract is SO much worse than QRich's. Webber has like two seasons LEFT in him.

Isiah is taking this a little to far...but im willing to laugh and see how far he is willing to take it!!!

I'm waiting for him to sign Shawn Kemp out of retirement. Probably around 5 years, $30 million.

it's more along the lines of an AIM conversation
sixersgm
"Hey Isiah U want Webber"
isiah11
"Well, I guess i could give U Taylor and Qrich for him, maybe we'd also have to throw n someone like Malik"
sixersgm
"HEY EVERYONE, THE KNICKS TRIED TO TRADE FOR WEBBER...LAUGH AT THEM"

Webber is not great, but they would get more value out of him then they will out of Taylor and Qrich.

Not really...teams would be happy to get Webbers 22 million a year from this trade deadline.

I want Webber in the West. He eats Drew Gooden alive!

Doesn't every PF? :chuckles:

This is what Isiah does. It's the Isiah Six Step Plan to GMing

1. Turns on his game console of choice and puts on either NBA 2k6 or Live
2. Turns off the salary cap and computer approval of trades
3. Looks at his team's stats (Defense, Offense, etc;)
4. Makes trades and then checks the stats again
5. If any stat improved, no matter how ridiculous the trade, he calls the other GM.
6. Other GM answers, thinks it's a joke, gets his buddies to hear Isiah's proposal over the speaker phone and Viola! another Knick is added to the payroll.

Sixers already have a 3pt chucker with bad defense...and Mo Taylor is worse than Webber pretty much. I wouldn't have done that regardless.

Isiahs plan is to get fired but leave the Knicks in such bad shape they wont contend for ten years.
