Wedge Not Getting Fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well of course not. Firing Wedge removes the blame buffer that Shapiro is currently enjoying between his head and the chopping block.

Between that and their deep personal connection, the only way we're going to be ousting Wedge is in a 2-for-1 package deal.

In my eyes, both Shapiro & Wedge need to hit the road. If we have a mid-season fire sale, which our shitty ass record indicates, i'm not so sure I want it to be Shapiro making more shitty deals.

Well, it's nice to vent, but calling Shapiro's trading record "shitty" is pretty inaccurate.

He got Sizemore and Lee for Bartolo Colon.

Pronk for Ryan Drese and Einar Diaz.

Asdrubal and Choo for Eduardo Perez and Ben Broussard (2 separate deals).

He got Carlos Sanatana from LA for Casey Blake, and got LA to pick up most of his salary.

Sizemore, Lee, Pronk, Cabrera and Choo are a pretty nice nucleus, all acquired for not too much (basically, Colon, who we were going to lose anyways, and scrubs).

good points. in that case we should let him deal away our team now, and then fire him, because we know the off-season is not his forte.

FA I am not going to bash him for, because he's always dealing with tier b and tier c guys.

But his draft record does need looked at.

so at what point do we organize a fan boycott of going to the first inning a game to prove a point?

At what point would anyone realize a boycott is going on?

We've finished in the bottom third in attendence in each of the past eight seasons.

Win or lose, there isn't much the team can do about being the third best show in town. Something they never had to deal with during everybody's favorite era, 95-99.

Sustaining something would help. This club hasn't been consistent enough to get the fans to buy in. In 2005 they didn't get going until after the All-Star Break, and then they folded at the end of the season, which killed their momentum with the fans going into 2006. In 2007 they choked away the ALCS and then got off to a horrible start the following season, which again killed their momentum with the fans.

I understand the days of selling out the season the previous November are gone, but this club can do more to get the fans on their side. People don't believe in this club, and the club hasn't done enough to make them believe.

From John Heyman's midseason awards:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/jon_heyman/07/06/midseason.awards/1.html

Maury Wills Award (Worst Manager): Eric Wedge, Indians. Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. Just got the vote of confidence, as GM Mark Shapiro diplomatically blames himself more than Wedge.

Hawk Harrelson Award (AL Worst Executive): Mark Shapiro, Indians. Very bright guy, and two-time major league executive of the year. His Indians have gotten very unlucky. But let's face it, very little has worked. The bullpen has been an abomination, and the rotation isn't much better. The Kerry Wood contract, with two years at $20.5 million plus a third year if he closes 55 games this year and next, does not look good now.
It's not just us who think these two need to go.

Those awards are not based on a cleveland fan being biased either. That's a very true take on what the Indians look like from others looking at things away from it all. Bruce Drennan has had a few writers on his show to talk about the Indians lately, and all of them don't see any end in sight to the big mess in Cleveland. The writer today stated he truly believes a whole sale firesale should be done with the current team. He stated "blow it up" which includes Wedge.

So yeah; it's not just many of us who sees all of this. It's very hard to believe the Dolans don't get it or see it. It's almost like they don't ever read the internet or listen to anyone about MLB. Could that be the case? How can an owner be so out of the loop, and so out of touch with the fans who are the people responsible for any of an owner's profits?

Listening to Cleveland media as experts on any situation is only going to leave you disappointed.

Those guys are no more educated than you or I.

In fact, I'm quite confident Cleveland has one of the worst sports media writers of any of the professional sports cities in America.
