Reading back on this game thread was unbelievable.
The game for me started at 10:15am local time. I last-minute rain-checked a couple of client meetings 'til next week, just in case something remarkable happened today. And it sure as hell did.
I think what makes this win so special is that it's symbolic of so much more in so many ways. Browns are down 0-14, Taylor (who we knew was only starting @ QB until his expiration date arrived) was garbage and the fans were on edge. Everything was about to meltdown.
Enter Baker.
Kid came in like a 15 year future HoF-er and carried this team to victory. It wasn't even just his reality-defying accuracy or his arm strength; he had such poise, patience and command. Kid oozes in charisma and the whole energy in the stadium flipped 180-degrees when he entered.
I think what made the win so special is that it wasn't just the first Browns win in nearly 2 years, but the introduction of the new face of the franchise. Baker came in and began his legend tonight in the most incredible way possible and offered us more than hope. He's a winner and he's more than a guy we need to "be patient with" or "develop into the QB of the future." He is the QB of now, that elusive conductor that has evaded this football franchise for decades.
So yes, while we broke the "winless" streak, tonight was about way more than a W. Tonight was the night that'll be remembered in Browns lore as the day winning football returned to Cleveland, Ohio.
