Welcome Shawn Marion #31

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I will not rest until I know why he got no burn in The Finals. I want an honest answer, from Blatt.

I still feel like Blatt's thinking was this: we could barely score the ball. So you're going to bring in yet another guy who can't score the ball? I don't know if it's right or wrong, but....I have a feeling that was his thinking.

Well, over the last 3 games, nobody was hitting, and he needed to try something. Compared to Delly, Shump, and JR, Matrix was looking like Pete Maravich, over there on the bench...

He was a little too hurt to play.

Great career Matrix. Loved watching the guy play and his finals effort against LBJ when he was on the Mavs was a GOAT defensive performance. Glad to have seen this dude play ball.

TBH, He is so underrated its crazy. People wank about Kwahi and Butler etc but prime-Matrix was better than any wing-defender we have currently in the NBA. He was such a complete player as well. Could guard 1-4. The closest player we have had to Scottie Pippen.

I remember when The Matrix was drafted by the Suns when I was living in Phoenix at the time and a local sports talk radio station had him on for an interview and it was painful to listen to him, he sounded so stilted in his speech and words.

Dude could absolutely play though and he had some fantastic years w/ the Suns and grew into being a well-spoken, smooth guy. I wish he had more in the can this year but I'm glad he was here nonetheless.

He'll be a HoFmer, IMO.

If he could have stayed healthy and if his corner three didn't fall off from 34-36% and turn into a guaranteed ricochet off the side of the backboard, he probably would have been a much bigger contributor....but he just didn't have any left in the tank.

Skolnick provides a tidbit-

Ethan Skolnick said:
Meanwhile, Marion continued to harp on the need for better communication, particularly on the back line of the defense, particularly from Thompson, who is quiet by nature. Marion has never been shy about sharing, even while knowing there's a learning curve. "I think everything has to be addressed and approached immediately," Marion said. "And then you have a way of winning from a veteran's standpoint, that rubs off on the guys who haven't won before, in their mentality and their whole approach. And most of the time, when you've been successful, they follow suit. It's pretty sweet, when you see how guys are actively trying to learn the game and get better. It's amazing. We have answers for them. And if we don't have answers, we can get answers. When you are actively seeking out help, you can get help."
