Not sure whether this would be end up being a trade or not, so I posted the thread here. Landry is restricted and was great for the Rockets toward the end of last season and in the playoffs. I've seen reports of the Pacers being interested in signing him to an offer sheet. I think he could be a great piece off the bench.

And the face he makes at the end of this makes me laugh:

More Drama Between Landry and Rockets: Last year, Carl Landry and the Rockets undertook a long contract negotiation that ended just before the start of training camp, as the team and their second-round draft pick quibbled over the amount of guaranteed money in Landry's first year. Now a restricted free agent, the Rockets have proclaimed that they will not offer Landry a contract until he undergoes extensive testing of his right knee, which forced him to miss seven games when it was sore. For his part, Landry's agent, Buddy Barker, is saying that Landry's knee is fine and the Rockets are trying to lower his client's value by scaring other teams with a possible health concern. According to Baker, though, the ploy didn't work, as Landry's 8.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and .616 shooting percentage have been enough to garner interest from several teams who now feel that the Rockets may not match offers for Landry because of the knee. Just another day ... but who else feels like this will all just lead to Landry donning the red and white again next year?

I like Landry as a player but I doubt we have much interest in him... We already have Hickson, Smith, Jackson and maybe Varejao manning the PF spot... We're perfectly set at that spot... It's the center spot where we need help... And really, Landry is strictly a PF, which limits his value even more..

I'd like him but it seems like the Rockets would match anything for him and it doesn't make sense to offer him the full MLE when we're already set at his position..

We have other, bigger needs that we need to focus on...

Makes sense. For some reason, I thought he was more of a 3-4 tweener than strictly a 4. But you are correct, we do have more pressing needs elsewhere.

He really has no speed, and I was shocked what he was able to do in Houston. I am a purdue alumni and enjoyed him for 6 years at Purdue (medical redshirt one year). He is a hard worker, but undrsized at 6-6 -6-7 and has no ability to play the 3. I wish him all the best, but has no interest to me and what we do here.

NBA.COM has him listed at 6'9''. Is he really only 6'6'' or 6'7''? He seems bigger.

He is definetley under sized, I have actually met him, good guy, good charactor, hard worker, but not much of a defensive pressence at all. It works next to ming obviously, and maybe next to Z, but I wouldnt count on it.
