I hate to bring this up but this team looks pretty darn good with Sasha starting. (Not saying Sasha is better then Hughes but just making an observation and I do realize that Hughes has been hurt all year). i.e. against the Nets Sasha did a far more credible job both on O and D against VC then Hughes had done.

Does Hughes automatically get the starting nod back meaning Sasha gets limited minutes playing backup SF/SG? Or do we play Hughes as the third guard off the bench playing SF/SG and taking away Jones's minutes at PG? Or could we possibly even considering start Hughes at PG.

Thoughts? We're 7-0 with wins against some very good teams with Sasha in the starting lineup.

Yes, Hughes starts, Sasha comes off the bench at 15-20 minutes/night and at all times two of LeBron/Hughes/Sasha are on the court.

I don't think it's time to get crazy over Sasha. He has played some great ball, but Hughes is still one of our top 3 players and has the track record to prove it. I think that Hughes will start (and should) immediately when he gets back, but will be eased back in with low-30 minute nights at the most. Sasha can bring alot to this team off the bench, and this injury may have been a blessing in desguise, as Sasha was banished to the end of the bench until Damon and Luke sucked it up for two weeks.

The ONLY way I bring Hughes off the bench is if we run this win streak into the teens and it's still going when Larry gets back.

Thanks for the productivity, Sasha. But, bring that productivity off the bench for the rest of the year. I see Hughes playing some point at times with a backcourt 3 of Hughes, Sasha and LeBron. That'll give Sasha 20-25 minutes a night.

personally i think Hughes should see time at the Point when he gets back opening up more PT for Sasha.

How about this for a freaky lineup: Hughes, Sasha, Lebron, AV, and Gooden. I don't think any team could put that many athletes on the floor to match up with that. Run, Run, Run

With the length on Hughes's absence he should slowly ease his way back into the lineup. He should be still quite fit seeing it was a finger problem, and that achilles problem should just be a memory. Damon Jones should be the loser when Hughes returns.

the only bad thing about cutting jones' minutes is that reduces his market value and leaves us eating his contract for three more years. leaves a bad taste in my mouth. paxon sure messed up on that one.

Hughes will play his way back to start, but I agree that Sasha will continue to get time as long as he brings his A game.

And Oot, Jones was Ferry's choice.

I still think Ferry made a good decision about Jones. We could have got Eddie House cheap, but we would have been gambling. Jones for all of his antics is the real thing as far as threes are concerned, regardless of the slump he is in now.

I believe Oot is of the belief that we blame every bad move on Paxson, whether it was him or not.

Jones to me was a bad choice then, and a bad choice now. Obviously this is just personal opinion, but I disliked a 4 year deal from the start.

You get a bye since you are the King of this board and the Cavs fan I aspire to be.. But I still think you can't fault Ferry's choice. It is easy to see better choices today with 20/20 hind sight.

I see myself as the Prince of the board not King.....LOL

Maybe it was just dislike of Jones from previous years that lead me to that opinion. just flatout didn't like the guy, and that opinion was only partially due to his play.

I do have to say, his play the past fortnight has been his seasons best and closer to wha we need from him.

Hughes is starting...

Are we kidding ourselves here? All he had was a dislocated finger. He wont be out of shape, he shouldnt have any ill-effects because he will be shooting way before he comes back.

Sasha has done OK, but Hughes brings a whole other dimension to this team, nobody takes Sasha as a threat, Larry is.

Sasha can go back to the bench and play the 6th man.

I think Sasha will thrive in his role as a main threat off the bench....he can come out and know his job is to put points up and he wont be strtched out for 30 +mins he will be collecting a solid 15-20....AND FOR THE RECORD Damon Jones has actually been playing good defense (for him that is) I dont wanna jinx it but He is starting to really accept his role here and he is no artest but he hasnt been his usual matador self when it comes to guarding the opposing pg...

Pavs has done a terrific job spot-starting, but let's not kid ourselves. I love the guy, he has solid fundamentals, something we lack as a team. But he is NOT going to be the 6th man, or even the 7th or 8th. The Marshall/Jones tandem usually comes off the bench together 1st, then the anchor Varejao. That tandem and Varejao may be interchangeable later, or switch spots altogether. During LarryTime, Sasha will be competing with Alan Henderson for the 9th spot.

(Mike Wilks isn't completely out of the picture, but with Varejao vamping our defense we won't be forced to take Snow/Jones out as often)

Kypus.........whatever you're smoking get me some of man. Sasha isn't going to be delegated to the ninth spot on the bench fighting alan henderson for minutes. First, Sasha won't fight Hendu for minutes since Hendu is a PF/C and Sasha is a SG/SF. Sasha is looking at being a 20 minute man off the bench. He will see time coming in for Larry, he will get time with Lebron on the bench, and he will also see time with the Larry/Sasha/Lebron lineup. He has done a great job starting and earned himself 20 minutes a night off the bench. If we take him and stick him at the end of the bench after performing this well, what does that do to the kid??? It kills his confidence which has been a key factor to his present play.
