Successful Scenario
Due to all teams being under the cap, the 25% trade rule is not invoked. No team had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We would be giving them way too much for a bunch of underachievers.

No thank you.

Melvin Ely.... an underachiever... but he could fit if he plays defense and grabs rebounds.

Brevin Knight is a great PG... one that we need. He can score by penetration, or distribute the ball like none other. I'd gladly take 8 assists a night from him. His defense isn't shabby, either.

Gerald Wallace is not quite the underachiever you might think. He's doing incredible this season, definitely going to be an all-defensive selection if he keeps it up. To have him instead of Newble is a definite upgrade. He's also more physical and bigger than Hughes, so that will be a good complement at the wing, coming off the bench.

I vote yes to this trade.

People want Brevin Knight when his offense is probably worse than Snow and his defense is no where nears Snows..

No...

i wouldn't be against the trade, mostly because of the addition of Wallace over Sasha.

Brevin Knight is probably better than you think. Higher career averages across the board than Snow... Most importantly, his assist numbers. Bumping our starting PG's assist numbers up by 2, even, would be a big, big difference.

He definitely has the benefit of playing with lesser talent in Charlotte. But, would Snow put up 12/8 also? Maybe the 12 ppg, but I don't know about the 8 assists... Brevin also leads the league in Assist-TO ratio

I'm not sure if Charlotte would do it, BUT, I think it does have merit. I usually look at most trade proposals and say ...sorry, can't happen. But, this one makes sense. Unloading the Snow contract is a key element that would make me accept it from a Cleveland standpoint. Plus, Knight would be a fit here ...his game is much improved from the Knight we saw in Cleveland during the Fratello years ....he'd upgrade our offensive efficiency quite a bit. Ely is a piece that fits in our plan as well, even though the numbers aren't as good ...Ely does things in game that would enamor him with Mike Brown ....whereas, Drew Gooden is just an every game headache for a defensive minded coach ....because you can tell him the same thing five times a game, every game of the season ..and Drew will never learn or aplly it to his game. I'm sure he's been told the same things by e ery coach he's had ...he just never ever gets it.

i agree it would be a good trade to get rid of snow and we'd get wallace and knight especially, charlotte would get a defensive point guard and a proven pf for us. i hope ferry sees this lol

Charlotte would laugh at us. We get four players who can contribute. They get a gifted forward in Gooden who would be traded for the 3rd time, Ira Newble who is not attractive to any team, Snow a veteran leader yes, but horrible contract and an unproven Pavlovic. This trade stinks for the Bobcats. As a Cav fan, I'd do it in a second.

I am luke warm to this idea. Not sure it acomplishes much. Drew is certainly the biggest talent in that mix, whatever people may say about his defensive ability.

Make it jones instead of Snow, and Ray Felton instead of knight and it might be a good future move. But I don't think this trade would really help us much this year. The only thing I don't like about Ely, is that for a big man he does not rebound very well.

knight is not as good as snow. you must be reading box scores and not watching games if you think that knight is better or even as good. jeepers creepers. snow is more of a stud than knight, especially on the defensive end which is where you win games and championships.

but the thing that amazes me is that no one on this forum is getting the big picture on this trade - the underlying principle behind it is all wrong. we are about four million over the salary cap and therefore the salaries do have to match within 25%. so talking about this is a waste of time. i am surprised sometimes at how many people here seem to be oblivious to nba reality. i know that i am not all knowing when it comes to the nba and all of its rules and regulations, but for no one here to recognize that we are over the salary cap. whew. makes me wonder about our collective knowledge level.

just in case anyone is adding things up and it looks like we are under the cap, remember that even though hamilton is long gone, we still have to count the salary that we paid him against our cap, and just because jiri welch is playing for milwauke we still have to pay his entire salary this year and that counts against our cap not against milwauke's.

think people, think.

Offensively Knight can penetrate and dish, he's got a slightly better shot, and as far as foot speed is concerned...it's not even close. Defensively, Knight is much weaker, but tries to make up for his lack of strength with quick positionintg feet, and quick hands.... Knight would be an upgrade on Snow overall, in my opinion.
