The Spurs were hoping to send Scola out of their conference -- as part of a three-way trade with the Kings and Cavs that would have landed Scola and Bibby in Cleveland before collapsing Thursday -- but decided that the financial benefits were too significant to keep Scola away from the neighboring Rockets.

Would this lineup make us a better team?

Z
Scola
James
Pavs
Bibby

You mean us after the Mo Williams deal or before?

Mo > Bibby
Sasha=Sasha
LeBron= LeBron
Ben < Scola
Z=Z

We would've given up more depth in the Scola and Bibby deal, if I remember correctly. So, no, I think we're a better team now.

HMM

Z=Z
Scola>Wallace
James=James
Pavs < Wally
Bibby< Mo

But of course that is just my opinion. I think we are much better off with Mo than Bibby, as Mo gives us a close to a second scoring option. However, the thought of having Scola over Wallace almost makes up for it.

Maybe the plan was to push Mo to SG?? I dunno, I would've liked Scola though.

Bibby isn't on the Kings anymore, so this trade has to be old...

Scola looks awesome in the olympics.. too bad the rockets are so stacked scoring wise.. scola could be a star

Yeah, this trade was thrown around back when we wanted to land Bibby, the only reason it didn't go through is because Ferry was trying to figure out a way to land Scola as well. I can't say that I blame him, I really like Scola's game.

I remember that trade last summer around this time. I was so disapointed at the time when it didn't happen. But now, Im ok with it. Scola would have been nice to have. But we would still have Hughes had that trade happened. And also Jackie Butler was involved in the trade. I like our chances of building a better roster now, then had that move gone through.

Scola was tearing the hell outta the Redeem team today.... I'd take him over the corpse anyday

Given Bibby's performance on the Hawks, I'm glad that this trade didn't go through. True, Scola would be a nice piece to have now, but I'll take Mo Williams for scraps over a washed up PG who can't shoot, and a decent PF.

To be honest I was one of the few who never wanted to land Bibby, he's overpaid, old, and an overrated shooter. I was pretty happy when we didn't get him, however I would have welcomed Scola with open arms.

What if my aunt had balls? Then she'd be my uncle, right?

The whole thing with that trade was that the Spurs demanded that whoever took Scola would also take on Jackie Butler's contract of like 3 million. We wouldn't do it, so that's why the deal utlimately fell through.

All in all, probably a good bet. While I wanted Scola, and I wanted Bibby, after seeing Bibby this year in the playoffs, I'm glad we didn't get him. Mo makes a lot more sense.
