The Cavaliers are signing big man Pete Nance to a 10-day contract, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweets.
Cleveland is essentially rewarding a player already in its organization. Nance has averaged 13.5 points and 7.9 rebounds for the Cavs’ G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge.
Nance went undrafted last year after spending four years at Northwestern and another with North Carolina. He was signed to an Exhibit 10 contract in September by the Cavs, then waived during training camp.
The Cavaliers needed to add another player to their 15-man roster after dropping to 13 players when they bought out Ricky Rubio, who announced his retirement earlier this month. NBA teams are required to have 14 players on standard contracts and the Cavs had a two-week deadline to fill Rubio’s roster spot.
Nance is the son of former Cavs legend Larry Nance and the younger brother of Larry Nance Jr., who spent parts of four seasons with Cleveland.
Possibly. They can do two 10-day contracts before needing to do something. The options would be a 2-way if that frees up or an NBA contract if they cannot get CPJ to agree to one.Is this to buy time to work out a COJ contract so Nance can take the other 2waynor what?
Nance went bananas in his last Charge game:
His outside shot is looking great and he's shooting it with confidence. I love his array of hook shots also, you don't see a lot of that any more.
Off the top of my head I'll say Dean Wade. Can you or anyone think of a undrafted big man who went to the G-League that worked out in the NBA? There are several back court players, but I really dont remember any front court players that have.
Compared to Niang he's the Flash. He is slow and not as athletic as other Nance's. I still think he is a long shot, but I love me some Nance, until Lebron, Larry Nance Sr was my favorite player and I hear an even better human being, so any Nance will always be welcome, just think Pete might be a step to slow for the NBA.
