Waiters was in for 12 offensive positions in the 1Q last night. He touched the ball once, which resulted in a turnover. Cavs were 9-9 shooting and scored 24 points. (Source for this is Ethan Skolnick).

Then it stopped working after adjustment by the opposing team.................

My point is blaming our losses on Dion not touching the ball enough is bullshit, flawed analysis.

It's real simple

Cavaliers haven't started playing team offense yet

Blatt. Chemistry equals coach, and he needs to pull it off, whether its a lebron, kyrie, or a guy named after a fantasy emotion

In some ways I think the team could benefit from simplifying the offense. How do you defend a Lebron/Love or Kyrie/Love or Kyrie/Lebron P&R action without giving up an open shot or a mismatch? When Love is dropping buckets in the post, shouldn't we feed him the ball to create double teams to play off? How about Lebron scoring easily in the post on Matthews to start the game and then we never go back to it again? i.e. look what Portland did to us by pounding into Aldridge time after time and forcing us to double. Why not capitalize on having the best SF and PF in the game and play inside out?

To me we should just be pounding teams in the paint to open up shooters and really killing teams using 2 man game with Lebron/Love in particular.

That said the offense showed flashes of greatness in the preseason and Lebron has played awful by his standards, so maybe we just need to give it more time.

It's not Dion not touching the ball. It is the whole team not getting touches. Funny how Lebron said, "They will blame you, Dion." and everyone still is.

Chemistry.

What is killing the team is how few open shots we get given how much talent we have.

We tried to pass way too much against the Knicks to the point where it hurt us. Last night it felt like we didn't pass at all.

Need to find that median level.

exactly

I went with Blatt. It is early and I expect things to get straightened out but right now we are not running much of an offense but just playing hero ball and trying to dribble, dribble, dribble and force up a shot. Get these guys to execute your offense Coach.

0-2 when LeBron doesn't show up. It's hard to win playing 4 on 5.

The obvious answer is chemistry, but if I'm going to put blame on specific people, I'm going with:

1. LeBron
2. Blatt
3. Kyrie
4. Dion
in that order.

LeBron gets the most because he impacts the game more than anyone. If he takes more of an active role, we win the games. Next, Blatt deserves blame for his weird rotations and not holding some players (like Kyrie) accountable for not executing the offensive schemes. Then Kyrie and Dion for the obvious reasons everyone has stated already.

It's three games into the season. Three freaking games! We just hired a new coach who has never been in the NBA and added two superstars. Half the team is new, including key role players!

To be honest, LeBron knows how this goes. Would I have liked to see him play better thus far? Of course, but I don't believe there's anything to worry about with him. He obviously showed that he could adapt in Miami. That was with players who had accomplished more than Love and Kyrie.

My feeling is that Blatt and LeBron both understand that they need to get everyone else up to speed and involved in the offense before LeBron really asserts himself. He's definitely still learning, but in the long run what does LeBron taking over some early season game accomplish? We'll win more games, but eventually the offense just devolves into everyone standing around while LeBron does his thing.

LeBron also knows that when it comes to the NBA Playoffs, you need unexpected contributions in key moments and that you have to develop confidence in each other from the get go.

Last time I checked, Jordan and Kobe didn't win any titles without Phil. The right system executed with the best talent is unstoppable. However, LeBron playing like LeBron right off the bat doesn't allow anyone to actually learn the system and you fall back on LeBron to make something happen.

When systems are executed correctly, then theoretically anyone should be able to run it. It's when you add in superior talent that allows you to increase efficiency and productivity. We just need more time to learn the system and work out the kinks before any judgement can really be made.

There's a lot of smart basketball players on this team. I think the 15-20 game mark is where we'll really start to see a ton of progress with this team. Until then, we'll likely only see some flashes and see us grind out some tough win based on determination and desire.
