It's three games into the season. Three freaking games! We just hired a new coach who has never been in the NBA and added two superstars. Half the team is new, including key role players!
To be honest, LeBron knows how this goes. Would I have liked to see him play better thus far? Of course, but I don't believe there's anything to worry about with him. He obviously showed that he could adapt in Miami. That was with players who had accomplished more than Love and Kyrie.
My feeling is that Blatt and LeBron both understand that they need to get everyone else up to speed and involved in the offense before LeBron really asserts himself. He's definitely still learning, but in the long run what does LeBron taking over some early season game accomplish? We'll win more games, but eventually the offense just devolves into everyone standing around while LeBron does his thing.
LeBron also knows that when it comes to the NBA Playoffs, you need unexpected contributions in key moments and that you have to develop confidence in each other from the get go.
Last time I checked, Jordan and Kobe didn't win any titles without Phil. The right system executed with the best talent is unstoppable. However, LeBron playing like LeBron right off the bat doesn't allow anyone to actually learn the system and you fall back on LeBron to make something happen.
When systems are executed correctly, then theoretically anyone should be able to run it. It's when you add in superior talent that allows you to increase efficiency and productivity. We just need more time to learn the system and work out the kinks before any judgement can really be made.
There's a lot of smart basketball players on this team. I think the 15-20 game mark is where we'll really start to see a ton of progress with this team. Until then, we'll likely only see some flashes and see us grind out some tough win based on determination and desire.
