Will the real C.C. please stand up.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not counting this years postseason, which we shouldn't because CC's arm is probably ready to fall off, and not counting his rookie year (if he even pitched in the postseason that year) CC has pitched in 3 postseason games. The first one he won 12-3. Not bad at all. The next two starts were not all that good (not to mention they were against a tough lineup). They weren't complete disasters, but they weren't great starts. In two starts CC has earned a rep of not being able to pitch in big games. He got the Brewers into the playoffs with a complete game on the last day of the season. Anyone who is hating on him right now is still just pissed that he's not on our team. I'm pissed too, but that doesn't mean I rip on CC for no good reason. I'm not making excuses for him not executing, I'm making excuses for him apparently having a bad rep that he shouldn't have. Who would you rather have pitch for your team in a big game (on regular rest)? CC or Cliff Lee? Everyone's answer should be CC because he's a better pitcher. I don't know how else I could get the point accross. It just baffles me when I see the large number of people that expected CC to fail this postseason for a reason other than short rest.

^ I am bitter that he's not on the Tribe anymore... but that has nothing to do with me saying he's not a big-game pitcher. I was at Game 5 last year at home vs. Boston. A big-game pitcher closes that game out. I don't care how much rest he had or didn't have. That was the series right there. He flirted with disaster that entire game and was lucky it was still a close game when Boston finally broke it open late in the game. A freaking Cy Young winner finds a way to win that game at home and take his team to the World Series for its first title in 49 years.

Don't get me wrong - I liked CC as a person, thought he was good in the clubhouse, and he's obviously a great talent. But I will laugh at the team that gives him his next bloated 6- or 7-year contract in a couple months. They will live to regret it and at least we got two major prospects instead of making that mistake.

Wouldn't it have been 59 years?

It was 2007.
We won in 1948.

>>59 years.

You are correct - I'm getting too old for simple math I guess. Either way, it's way too long to go without a title. Just shoot me now.

You mentioned that he logged a lot of innings in your first sentence, that is an excuse.

Just stop talking now and a lot of us here will be happy. Thanks.

I have a question for you...What are your thoughts on Alex Rodriguez's post-season performances?

Paul Byrd. Jake Westbrook. Chad Ogea. Jaret Wright. Maybe even Charley Nagy.

Having better stuff doesn't help if the pitcher can't settle himself and get his pitches over the plate with movement.

Exactly. But what I'm saying is that saying CC isn't clutch after 1-2 bad postseason games (not counting this years- 4 games in 12 days) isn't fair.

I'm gonna go sort of off topic now (still Indians) and talk about that statement you made with anyone who stuck up for JoBo. I couldn't stand hearing about his "nerves of steel." Who cares? He was one of the worst pitchers in baseball. I don't care if he was "tough." His average breaking ball was a hanging breaking ball.
Had to get that off my chest.

Who the hell are you and what the hell are you talking about. Get his cock out of you mouth.

No one is saying he can't mature and figure out how to win in the post-season, but he's been very disappointing and non-clutch for a #1 pitcher who's all but unhittable at times.

It's funny how a guy CC's size has become so much of a finesse/control pitcher. I guess he never figured out how to throw his 4 seamer with movement or his 2 seamer with high velocity.

A dominating and overpowering pitcher ... should dominate ... he shouldn't suddenly lose the plate. That's nerves, and having your game thrown off by the pressure of the situation is pretty much the definition of the word non-clutch.

I'm some guy on a message board, just like everyone else here.

And what the hell are you talking about his cock for? He made a post ripping CC for not being a big game pitcher, and then you acted like he was making an excuse for CC. I thought that was the most colorful way to call you on it.
